Communications Assistant
The Utah Division of Arts & Museums (UA&M) seeks a dynamic self-starter to support the Communications Manager in creating and implementing communications and marketing strategies. This individual will work independently and with a team to support the division’s vision of inspiring and connecting people and communities through Utah’s arts and museums to encourage a vibrant and culturally engaged state.
Qualifications
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency with social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube
- Experience in marketing and/or communications
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated understanding of public relations and/or marketing principles
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office (knowledge of Wordpress and/or Adobe Express or Adobe Creative Cloud a plus)
- Genuine enthusiasm for creating compelling marketing materials
- Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and time management skills
- Ability to work well, both independently and as part of a team
- Preferred: Education in marketing/communications/public relations
- Update and maintain UA&M social media presence, including daily monitoring, posting, scheduling, and reviewing analytics
- Assist in planning, writing, and managing newsletters
- Update website using Wordpress
- Provide input for creative marketing strategies and campaigns
- Design event/program fliers, graphics, and other marketing materials
- Create online and print materials
- Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and tools for marketing and communications
- Help coordinate media buys with local publications, radio stations, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
Hours: up to 29 hours / week
Location: Remote, with some in-person meetings and events. A position's eligibility for remote work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason. Note: Under Administrative Rule R13-4 all work must be performed within the State of Utah.
Compensation: $22 - $25 per hour
Status: Part time, Non-benefited
