Position Overview

 

The Communications Assistant will assist with general communications internal and external throughout our Mountain West Region operations. The ideal candidate would have experience with marketing, communications, social media, journalism, public relations, event planning, and/or other related fields.

 

Location: Wasatch Front, Utah.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Assist with creating social media content (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn.)

  • Gather stories from internal employees throughout the region to be spotlighted on internal newsletters.

  • Gather project profile information and photos for website.

  • Assist with the creation of internal newsletters.

  • Assist with marketing the organization internally and externally.

  • Assist with coordinating and participating in community events.

  • Provide general administrative support.

  • Update Mountain West photo database as needed.

  • Complete performance management under the guidance of the Mountain West Region Communications Specialist.

  • Gain a general understanding of the business.

  • Help provide support to the Mountain West Region Communications Specialist, assisting with special projects as needed.

  • Other tasks as assigned to meet business needs.

  • Regular and Timely Attendance.

  • Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment.

 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, social media, public relations, journalism, or other related fields of study.
  • Event coordination experience
  • Excellent organization and communications skills
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite and Canva, or willing to learn
  • Outgoing and energetic
  • Detail-oriented, creative, and able to work independently or in a team setting.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Canva, InDesign, and Outlook.

  • Understanding of social media platforms and current market trends.

  • Previous communications and/or marketing experience or coursework.

 

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move anywhere up to 25 lbs. Physical agilities test may be required.
