Job description

Summary of position/daily activities:
This position will provide communications, marketing, and Outreach support and coordination for federal projects, including the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the Transportation Research Board (TRB), and the U.S. Department of Education (ED). This position will report directly to the Director of Transportation. Day-to-day tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Plan and conduct of a national webinar series, including preparing presentations, readying presenters, reviewing presenters’ slides, and conducting post-webinar analysis.
  • Develop digital content, executive talking points, and press release to support a national transportation safety campaign.
  • Develop a national monthly newsletter based on client inputs and interviews.
  • Support the development of marketing material that are Section 508 compliant and adhere to FHWA guidelines.
  • Support the conduct of workshops and other in-person events for groups of 5 to 125.
  • Maintain lists of stakeholders; coordinate, organize, and support stakeholder meetings; prepare detailed meeting notes with action items and follow up on action items with clients and stakeholders.
  • Update the AEM transportation team’s web presence, including the development of stylized marketing collateral (e.g., capability 1-pagers, project recaps).
  • Support social media outreach to promote AEM’s industry engagement.
  • Conduct basic research on various transportation safety and mobility projects, including literature reviews, data collection and analysis (descriptive statistics), and stakeholder interviews.
  • Support the development of post-meeting/event and research reports.
  • Support the development of proposals, including pulling together past performance information, resumes, and bios; coordinating with prime/subcontractors to provide/gather required components; and organizing and formatting content.
  • Provide technical reviews of written documents for QA/QC.

Basic qualifications/experience (the required qualificationswhich are critical to be considered for the position:
  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience or Master’s degree and 2+ years of experience.
  • Expert use of Microsoft Office tools including PowerPoint (e.g., embedded audio, video, automated slide progression, alt-text, etc.), Word (e.g., styles, references, tables of contents/figures, caption cross-references, etc.), and Excel (e.g., pivot tables, light macros, formulas, filters, etc.) and Adobe products suite.
  • Excellent command of written language both for technical reports and public outreach.
  • Detail oriented, facilitator, ability to support multiple projects.

Desired skills/certifications (any additional skills desired but not required to be considered for the position):
  • Familiarity with transportation concepts.
