Job Description
Ecology Auto Parts Inc. is looking for a Tire Repair Technician to join our team to provide our drivers with hands-on experience regarding various sizes of semi-truck and trailer tires and wheels. As our new Tire Repair Technician, you will assess tread levels and valve quality on tires, check wear patterns to determine how much life is left in the tire before it needs replacement, re-tread vehicle tires, changing tires on our vehicles throughout the shift based on the needs of our drivers, repair/replace tires, do fleet checks, road service calls, after hours calls and minor service and repairs on our vehicles. You will support all aspects of TIRE REPAIR & replacement. You will report to the Tire Repair Supervisor.
Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
- Use all safety related PPE such as gloves, safety glasses and tire cages while doing any work.
- Drive service trucks to Customer locations or road location to provide fleet services and/or respond to emergency calls.
- Raise vehicles using hydraulic jacks.
- Unbolt wheels from vehicles and remove them, using lug wrenches and other hand and power tools.
- Separate tires from wheels, using rubber mallets and metal bars or mechanical tire changers.
- Inspect tire casings for defects, such as holes and tears.
- Seal punctures in tubeless tires by inserting adhesive material and expanding rubber plugs into punctures, using hand tools.
- Reassemble tires onto wheels.
- Identify and inflate tires correctly for the size and ply.
- Remount wheels onto vehicles.
- Replace valve stems and remove puncturing objects.
- Rotate tires to different positions on vehicles, using hand tools.
- Assist mechanics and perform other duties as directed.
- Determine if the tires can be replaced.
- Dismount and mount various size semi-truck and trailer tires and wheels.
- Perform service calls on the road and at various yards.
- Comply with company and state regulations.
- Comply with safety equipment and practices.
- Experience: 1-2 years of relevant work experience. Prev. Tire Tech exp. (preferred)
- Must possess a valid California Class C Driver’s License.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screening.
- TIA Certification or willingness to become Tire Industry Association Certified by company provided training, which includes passing both written and hands-on testing.
- Strong work ethic.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.

- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Successfully complete pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check, which will include previous employment check, criminal history, and motor vehicle record review.
- Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) most of the workday;
- Required to exert physical effort in handling heavy objects most of the workday;
- Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc.) often;
- Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements often
- Works under moderate supervision
- Requires lifting up to 50-75 pounds, pushing, pulling and bending
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds
