POSITION SUMMARY:
1st Shift 6:30AM-3:00PM
The Bindery Operator is responsible for quickly, efficiently and accurately operating one or more of the pieces of Bindery department equipment, including, but not limited to: Cutter, Folder, Stitch Liner or Perfect Binder.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate consistent performance in operation of the equipment, including: Proper set-up or make-ready; Proper running of equipment to maintain approved quality of the finished product; Inspecting for consistent, approved, quality; Properly tagging and identifying loads; Proper lubrication, cleaning and other general maintenance of equipment.
  • Record job tracking/job costing data accurately for each operation and job, as trained
  • Adhere to machine production time requirements and company production standards
  • Offer advice related to the quality limitations and capabilities of equipment
  • Stage materials before and after operations
  • Respond to management and other department lead directives
  • Adhere to job Prep, Press, and Bindery finishing related specifications
  • Consult with Department Manager each shift for scheduling jobs
  • Read and understand job ticket
  • Verify and use proofs in checking finished product’s attributes
  • Perform machine make-ready (programmable and manual)
  • Prepare jobbing and/or off load table
  • Observation safety procedures consistently
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • All other duties as needed or required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School diploma or equivalent education
  • 1+ year experience operating manual and mechanized material handling equipment
  • For new hires, must meet all FedEx Office employment qualifications in force at time of hiring
  • For current FedEx Office team members, must meet hiring criteria for the position and transfer requirements as outlined in the Team Member Handbook

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Ability to stand during entire shift, excluding meal and rest periods
  • Ability to move and lift 55 pounds
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to bend/twist at the waist and knees
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and other team members
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to perform work activities requiring cooperation and instruction
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to function in a fast-paced environment, under substantial pressure
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability, on a consistent basis, to report regularly to work and maintain established business hours in order to support the FedEx Office business; regular attendance and/or reporting could include regular attendance at a physical location and/or maintaining established business hours depending on the scope and nature of the position
