Childs Landscape Contractors, Inc. is searching for a junior Commercial Landscape estimator to join our sales/estimating team in December 2023.
This role includes:
- Calculating the cost of labor and materials for different landscape construction projects.
- Individual skills such as cost calculations, technical aspects of the project, reviewing landscape and civil drawings along with project specifications.
- Working with landscape architects/civil engineers/general contractors project managers.
- Attending company staff meetings at the office and site project meetings in the field.
- Working with other departments within the company including purchasing and production.
- Working under pressure of deadlines.
The Estimator should be familiar with:
- Various projects including landscape installation, seeding, sodding, excavation, grading, drainage analysis, irrigation systems, hardscaping, low voltage lighting, and site furnishings.
- Computers programs such as Word, Excel, proprietary estimating software (Asset), project management software, Zoom and Teams, and Microsoft Outlook.
The estimator must be proficient in:
- Math and English while possessing skills in customer service, verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, good time management, and scheduling skills.
This position will be a full-time, in-office, hourly position, Monday through Friday, 7a.m. to 4p.m., with occasional weekend or evening hours required to meet deadlines. Our sales/estimating staff will help train and guide you through the probationary period as you develop, and gain understanding of our processes and procedures. This position offers excellent room for advancement to Estimator 2, 3 and Senior estimator positions. Advancement will be based on overall experience, ability, tenure, sales yields, and strengths as an employee.
Qualifications for the position are college level credits or experience in estimating, horticulture, landscape design and/or field experience in landscaping.
Starting pay is $23.00/hr to $25.00/hr, depending upon level of job-related experience.
