Job description

Alaska Integrated Services is a well established union service company located in Fairbanks, Alaska. We are looking to hire a detail-oriented HVAC/R Technician to install, maintain and repair HVAC/R systems. The HVAC/R Technician will be skilled in cleaning, adjusting and repairing systems. You will guide and advise the customer to select the most appropriate HVAC/R system to fulfill their requirements. You will be responsible for HVAC/R systems from installation to end-of-life by performing maintenance, warranty and emergency repairs.

To be successful in this role, customer satisfaction, safety and comfort should be your top priority. Ideal candidates will be patient and have excellent organizational and troubleshooting skills.

HVAC/R Technician Responsibilities:

  • Installing, maintaining and repairing ventilation and air conditioning systems and equipment.
  • Identifying maintenance risks on equipment.
  • Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems.
  • Cleaning, adjusting and repairing systems, and performing warranty services.
  • Performing emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
  • Providing technical direction and on-the-job training.
  • Keeping daily logs and records of all maintenance functions.
  • Follow safety protocols and adhere to industry regulations.
  • Complying with service standards, work instructions and customers' requirements.
  • Assisting with customers' queries.

HVAC Technician Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED or suitable equivalent.
  • 5+ years experience as a Commercial HVAC technician and willingness to continue education in HVAC field.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Understanding of advanced principles of air conditioning, refrigeration and heating.
  • Working knowledge of hydronic heating systems including oil and gas boilers.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Proficient in reading schematics and work plans.
  • Self motivated.
  • Ability to work after hours, over weekends and on public holidays with short or no notice.

Preferred Skills:

· Experience with DDC/HVAC controls including navigating interfaces, understanding theory of operation and being able to troubleshoot systems.

· Experience with installation or servicing of proprietary server room cooling units.

· Experience working with pneumatic controls.

· Experience on refrigeration equipment such as walk-in coolers, freezers and reach in units.

· Experience working on ice machines and ice cream machines such as soft serve.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $46.27 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
