The Estimator is responsible for providing value and solutions to clients. The Estimator will work with project managers to complete accurate estimates based on manufacturer specifications to meet warranty requirements and local building codes.

Experience/Education/Requirements

  • Minimum five years construction estimating experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field from an accredited institution of higher learning is preferred
  • Possess an OSHA 10 certification or ability to obtain
  • Complete successful pre-hire and ongoing drug, MVR, and background screenings

Job Description Detail

  • Explore all specification/drawing documentation to gain understanding of the project requirements
  • Develop estimates and bids for construction projects
  • Estimate preparation (private sector) – collect pertinent information from onsite visits, including roof measurements, roof cores and overall roof condition, material staging, and hoisting equipment as applicable
  • Perform complex analysis of collected data to provide customer’s solutions
  • Prepare estimates utilizing The EDGE roof estimating software
  • Ensure timely presentation of bids and/or proposals
  • Actively make follow up calls on outstanding/delivered proposals
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with the key clientele and general contractors
  • Assist in competitively procuring material; perform a detailed review of the bids received to enable the buyout of the project at or below the amount(s) in the original estimate
  • Participate in hand-off meetings with assigned Project Managers and foremen
  • Attend required company meetings
  • Represent the company in a professional manner
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures
  • Support the company’s safety policy
  • Maintain confidentiality of company and client information

Skills and Personal Attributes

  • Ability to read and apply plans and specifications
  • Ability to consistently prepare new job paperwork, project cost estimate, and schedule prior to the project commencement
  • Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve problems before they become major issues
  • Ability to successfully negotiate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Working knowledge of construction legal issues including contracts, liens, labor standards, safety standards and other related topics
  • Ability to manage all aspects of construction projects effectively and efficiently including budgeting, scheduling, QA, safety, owner and architect correspondence, billings, subcontracting, and contract management
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and estimates at the same time
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under stressful situations/time constraints
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent verbal, written, communication and computer skills
  • Accepts responsibility to acquire specialized training and continued education
