Commercial Carpenter

Job Description:
A Carpenter is responsible for a full range of rough and finished carpentry work. A Carpenter will work from blueprints, specifications, drawings and instructions to design, build, remodel, retrofit, repair and maintain several types of facilities or structures. This position requires inspection of work for requirements and compliance with all building and safety codes, rules and regulations.

Responsibilities Include:
•Constructs, remodels, and repairs interior and exterior structures made of many different materials
•Estimate height, width, length, and other proportions while selecting materials
•Work with blueprints or instructions from Foreman
•Utilizes several different tools (saws, drills, sanders, etc.) to repair and erect structures.
•Joins materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives.
•Works on top of scaffolding, ladders, and the top of buildings.
•Checks work along the way to ensure it's up to code and specifications
•Use levels, rules, surveying equipment , and more to ensure everything is level and secure
•Works with prefabricated buildings
•Build stairs, mantles, and installs cabinetry and molding
•Remodels homes and businesses
•Replace panes of glass, ceiling tiles, and doors and Installs partitions, doors, and windows
•The moving and use of several different types of machinery

Skills and qualifications
Has the ability to build, install, repair, and maintain structural woodwork, flooring, ceilings, drywall, cabinetry and more; Can operate, maintain, and calibrate hand and power carpentry tools while reading and comprehending plans and blueprints; Will recognize and select appropriate Material types and grades; Makes rough sketches while estimating cost, time and materials of carpentry projects, perform heavy physical labor; maintain cooperative working relationships with good communication skills; Possesses the knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in both rough and finished carpentry in both residential and commercial and industrial settings;

Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting 50 lbs consistently, bending, standing, stooping, climbing or walking. Must be able to safely use manual tools and power equipment that are common in the construction trades. More than 3 years experience preferred. Must have valid drivers license.
