Job Description

Job Summary:

Responsible for the delivery and on-going support of multi-category combustible and heated tobacco products, specifically HT reconstituted tobacco. This includes, but is not limited to the transfer of product ideation to validated concepts, industrializing and driving continuous improvement in manufacturing processes and product quality.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage engineering projects from concept to installation and handover, including, but not limited to: client and supplier liaison, specification generation and approval, budget control, effective time management, etc.
  • Identify areas of opportunity across the combustible and heated tobacco categories, prepare proposals and manage the feasibility, proof of concept, manufacturing, final design lock, and qualification validation of the final technical solution.
  • Plan and coordinate feasibilities across geographically diverse company locations, predominantly McAdoo.
  • Confirm product performance by designing and authoring test validation protocols and execution of testing.
  • Determine project schedule by studying project plan and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements.
  • Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving issues and risks.
  • Manage and coordinate efforts among cross functional teams, securing appropriate resources to complete projects successfully.
  • Coordinate qualification and validation testing.
  • Analyze, summarize, and present project, feasibility and test data, as needed.
  • Prioritize tasks and adapt to changes in scope or resource availability.
  • Control feasibility costs by approving expenditures within the GE budget.
  • Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, and recommending actions.
  • Develop and maintain the awareness of emerging technologies, machinery, and supplier skills to facilitate delivery of appropriate cost-effective solutions supporting the company’s position at the forefront of technological investment.
  • Consult and assist in the development and implementation of new equipment to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving legislation relevant to machinery installations and upgrades, in order to supply solutions in alignment with legal requirements.
  • Support organizational business processes such as capital planning and capex forecasting
  • Provide input into best practice process developmentand continuous improvement
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and 5+ years related work experience
  • Related work experience to include:
    • Engineering experience in an FMCG environment
    • Demonstrated project management skills with an emphasis in international projects

Knowledge of:

  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project) and Microsoft Teams
  • Manufacturing methods and procedures
  • Lean methodology
  • High level of technical understanding and awareness

Preferred Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering preferred

Related experience to include:

  • Working within a regulated industry, e.g., automotive, aerospace, pharmaceuticals, etc.
  • Relevant experience as a process engineer
  • Product design / implementation
  • Regulatory submissions
  • Experience with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards and regulations
  • pFMEA process and how to generate manufacturing control plans
  • Problem solving, planning, and execution within a manufacturing setting
  • Generation of validation master plans and manufacturing control plans
  • Understanding of Quality Management Systems
  • Ability to demonstrate curiosity, drive, and enthusiasm

Work Environment and Physical Demand: 

  • Requires moderate physical effort.  Occasionally lifts or moves objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Reach and grasp objects / hand eye coordination
  • Walks, sits, or stands for extended periods.
  • Requires prolonged machine operation including vehicle, computer, and keyboard equipment
  • Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills
  • Experience exposure to uncomfortable work environment due to extreme temperature, noise level, and other conditions including second-hand smoke and/or vape
