Location: Muskegon, MI
SUMMARY Safely optimize and/or repair equipment and perform facility maintenance and repairs. This includes various, preventative maintenance, repair and installation of machines, tools, and equipment, and maintenance and housekeeping of buildings, grounds, and utility systems. The Maintenance Mechanic person will communicate and coordinate their efforts with the Maintenance Planner and Management to perform the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Promotes the culture, the mission and vision, and the core values of the company. This includes adherence to and promotion of the company safety beliefs, employee engagement, competencies, code of conduct, and other policies and procedures.

  • Supports the Corporate Environmental Policy and assists in management of facility environmental records.

  • Promotes safe work environment, equipment LOTO and accident prevention at the facility.
  • Takes corrective action on any safety violation and notify the facility supervisor and manager.
  • Reviews work orders and works with management team to determine work priorities.
  • Performs and or coordinates preventative/planned maintenance on operating machines and equipment for conformance with operating standards.
  • Schedules and performs repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment and manufacturing machinery.
  • Uses power and/or tools per operating/work instruction and associated information systems.
  • Make or modify fixtures and tooling when needed.
  • Assists in planning, evaluation, installation, and start-up of new equipment, including layout changes.
  • Coordinates with supervisor and facility management, activities of on-site contractors.
  • Reads and understands equipment diagrams/prints.
  • Performs and assists with tool changes, including hydraulic press tool changeover, robotic work cell fixture changes, secondary tooling or equipment setup.
  • Preventative cleaning of Air Pollution control devices; cleaning dust collectors and filters while wearing a half-piece cartridge respirator.
  • Maintenance of building and grounds, including custodial, snow removal and lawn maintenance.

  • Support maintenance process that maintains a clean, safe, environmentally compliant plant operation, per EJ's core values and the direction of the Facility Manager.
  • Execute preventative maintenance and corrective work orders, including sub-contract work utilizing M3.
  • Pump bulk resin, from a tanker truck into a storage tank, following procedures and QC checks.
  • Filling raw materials for production pumping equipment to ensure materials are ready to support the production schedule.
  • Chemical mixing following formulas and quality work instructions using resins and catalysts, which may require the use of a half piece respirator.
  • Management and safe material handling of raw materials, weighing and SDS secondary container label marking of thermoset resins, organic peroxide catalysts, pigments and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
  • Support production team members to ensure raw materials meet the quality requirements.
  • Regular pump maintenance, maintenance of fill nozzle assembly (gun)
  • Changing remote vent port (bullet) and ensure back-up assemblies and spare parts available.
  • Take on other work as assigned by the Facility Manager.

  • Runs Production equipment, as required.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Expected to be trained and First Responder team member
  • Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
  • Strong mechanical ability and ability and background with fabrication equipment
  • Knowledge of machinery, including strong hydraulic and some electrical experience
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures, GMP, Lean, 5S, Housekeeping
  • Must have own tools, ability to read calipers, micrometers and use multimeter
  • Ability to perform Planned Maintenance on all equipment in Facility.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator, clean shaven and medical clearance requirements.
  • Licensed use of multiple powered industrial equipment to move materials.
  • Chemical processing and pump equipment knowledge desirable
  • CNC and robot programming knowledge desirable
  • Must work well with others
  • May be required to work overtime on regular basis, including weekend start-up / shut-down

PHYSICAL CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Fork Truck Driver's License, Industrial vehicle/equipment license where applicable
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Five years technical experience and two years education/training in a manufacturing or equipment repair environment, desired.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Design software; Manufacturing software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software
