COLUMBIA HEIGHTS FAMILY SEEKS WEEKDAY AFTERNOONHOUSEKEEPER + SATURDAY DATE NIGHT SITTER

We are a family of four seeking to welcome a loving, reliable caregiver into our home. As two professional parents (one as a solo practitioner consultant) with two young daughters (ages 7 and 4), we have a busy but structured lifestyle. We are very physically active (exercise 7x week), and as parents we prioritize weekly DATE NIGHTs. Our girls are very smart and affectionate; they have big but distinct personalities. As a family, we enjoy an active lifestyle, with a love for travel, food adventures, reading, movies, and spending time outside. Pet lovers are welcome. We have an older, friendly 50 pound black retriever mix.


We are looking for a professional and dependable caregiver to serve as an extra set of hands in caring for our two daughters and managing daily housekeeping and household duties. The primary focus areas are (1) providing housekeeping and child pickup to support the weekday evening routine 3:30pm - 7:30pm, several days during the week; and (2) providing occasional DATE NIGHT babysitting Saturday. Occasional weeknight babysitting and childcare support may also be requested.


We have flexibility on the days of the week. Saturday DATE NIGHT childcare coverage involves playing with the girls, preparing/serving their dinner, transitioning them to bathtime, supervising their post-dinner activities, and transitioning them to bed. Saturday DATE NIGHT housekeeping support involves dinner and kitchen clean up, household organizing, and laundry.


Primary duties include:

During the week, the role is 75% housekeeping / 25% childcare/transportation and on Saturday Date Night, it is 75% childcare / 25% housekeeping.

Below is a highlight on the type of support needed and examples of the specific tasks/duties a caregiver is needed to perform. 

  • Date Night Support -  Saturday from 3:30pm - 8:30pm (occasionally later)
    • Afternoon outdoor playtime, trip to the playground and/or arts & crafts;
    • Prep simple dinner for the girls (usually pasta, or leftovers);
    • Clean kitchen and dining room while girls clean up their toy/art area;
    • Girls’ bath time routine;
    • Movie night;
    • Girls’ bedtime routine, lights out by 8pm;
    • Finish housekeeping and tidying tasks in remaining time available.
  • Housekeeping Duties, Support + Management (during the week) -
    • Family laundry - wash, fold and put away (this includes towels and guest room sheets);
    • Completing pre/post dinner kitchen cleanup, putting away food, clearing/cleaning table;
    • Trash/Recycling collection and removal;
    • Daily tidying in kids room, living room, den and dining room;
    • Organizing projects (i.e. kids art area, pantry, linen closet, etc.);
    • Supply management, etc.
  • After School Pick-Up - Driving children from school or activities to home. 
    • P/u youngest from Pre-K Classroom;
    • P/u oldest from school via car line;
    • May require p/u from an after school activity (i.e. Tennis);
    • Return to home.
  • Evening Routine Support (during the week) - 
    • Dinner prep if not doing after school p/u; 
    • Help get girls in the door, hands washed & seated for dinner (usu prepared by parents);
    • During dinner, prep/stage for bath and bedtime;
    • Prep girls’ backpacks & “go-bags” for activities + snack; 
    • Complete laundry and other housekeeping tasks as time permits;
    • Post dinner support with kitchen clean up;
    • Occasional bath time support as needed;
    • Occasional bedtime routine assistance as needed.


Qualifications:

  • Childcare experience of at least 3-5 years.
  • House Manager and/or Housekeeping experience.
  • Professional, dependable, and pleasant demeanor.
  • Flexible, smart, and organized approach to tasks. 
  • Growth-oriented mindset toward best practices.
  • Interest in establishing a long-term partnership. 
  • Excellent communication skills and receptive to receiving and providing feedback.
  • Non-smoker. 
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Clean background and driving history.
  • Active/Valid driver’s license.
  • REQUIRED - Proof of COVID vaccinations.


Schedule and Compensation:

  • Part - Time, Weekly, 3 days during week and every Saturday, 
  • Hours - 3:30pm - 7:30pm (~17 hours/week),
  • Hourly Rate:  $25 - $30/hour, higher rate reserved for seasoned, committed professionals.
