COACHING VACANCY
Position is for the 2023-2024 school year
POSITION: Color Guard Instructor
LOCATION: Skyview Campus
PAY RANGE:Fall Season: $1,872 - $3,167
Post-Season: Every week with an additional competition will be compensated at $188
Winter Season: $2,433 - 4,111
Post-Season: Every week with an additional competition will be compensated at $243
CALENDAR: 2 Seasons - Fall and Winter
REPORTS TO: Performing Arts Director
COLOR GUARD PROGRAM:
The Skyview Color Guard is a 5-year-old program with a history of excellence in the marching arts, including local marching competitions, WGI regionals, and RMCGA Championships in which they received the gold medal in 2018 and 2019, respectively, in Novice and Scholastic Regional A class. QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma
  • Experience working with high school auxiliary programs
  • Background in performance and/or teaching collegiate, DCI, or WGI auxiliary programs
  • Understanding of dance and movement techniques in addition to equipment techniques (flag, rifle, and sabre)
  • Ability to demonstrate and implement guard techniques with beginners
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Work collaboratively with the high school band director and staff to recruit, train, and develop a successful guard program
  2. Choreograph the routines for the fall marching band show
  3. Contribute to the design process of the marching band
  4. Attend and supervise practices for the Color Guard and instruct the Color Guard during marching band rehearsal including summer band camp, football games, and competitions
  5. The desire to grow a Color Guard program in which our students and community could be proud
  6. The ability to develop strong relationships with students
  7. The ability to recruit students to participate and continue involvement in the Color Guard program
  8. Demonstrate a commitment to academics, strong fundamental skills, and sportsmanship
  9. Collaborate professionally with administrators, colleagues, students, parents, and members of the community
  10. Must have a positive attitude and strive for excellence; reassuring students' self-worth through positive reinforcement and encouragement, giving students a sense of pride and accomplishment
  11. Model effective strategies for supporting positive student behavior
  12. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners
  13. Maintain professional communication and interactions with students, parent community, and staff
  14. Utilize effective practices for community building, including rituals and traditions that build a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment
  15. Maintain a running inventory of all Color Guard uniforms, and equipment
  16. Maintain uniforms and schedule cleaning on a regular basis
  17. Model, instill and actively participate in building a supportive and positive culture in the performing arts department
  18. Perseverance in the face of challenges
  19. Work with a growth mindset
  20. Perform other duties as assigned
