Job Summary

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Murfreesboro is accepting applications for full-time faculty in the Collision Repair Technology program at its Smyrna campus. The Collision Repair faculty member is responsible to the President for the development, implementation, evaluation, modification, and operation of the Collision Repair Technology program.

Job Duties

  • Responsible for providing individualized theory and hands-on instruction to adult and high school students to prepare them for employment in the field. Areas of instruction include reconditioning the structure, shape and appearance of an auto body shell, frame, and component parts, as practiced in theory and on live projects. Instruct students in repainting components of the program, including auto refinishing industry use of training systems such as SimSpray. Instruct students in proper techniques for metal reshaping, fabrication, surface spraying, color matching, and equipment maintenance. Monitor, grade, and evaluate individual student progress; maintain student records in the college's student records management software; maintain appropriate documentation; submit timely reports; and assist in recruitment of new students and placement of graduates. Maintain good public relations with business and industry, maintain an active advisory committee and cooperate with outside agencies. This position will also supervise and follow-up on students participating in cooperative education. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum three (3) years of experience in the Collision Repair field, preferably within the last five (5) years.
ASE or I-CAR trained/certified.
Must be available for day program hours of instruction, Monday-Friday from 7:30-2:30 p.m. plus administrative hours for a total of 37.5 hours per week (full time).

Preferred Qualifications

Post-secondary Skilled Trades credential from an accredited institution.
Prior teaching or evidence of ability to teach students.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must show evidence of good character, organizational skills, and mature attitude.
Must be willing to remain current in the instructional field and maintain personal certifications and program accreditation(s).
Must possess computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Must possess the communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and interact with high school and adults.
Strong hands-on technical background in the field.
Must possess skills and knowledge to teach the theory and application in all phases of the Collision Repair program.

Physical Qualifications:

  • Walking, bending, sitting, and squatting in order to demonstrate skills on campus equipment. 
  • Able to use body members (arms, hands, fingers), tools, or special devices to work, move, guide, or place objects.
  • Communicating for extended periods while lecturing.
  • Sitting at a computer for extended periods to enter data.
  • Requires concentrated mental and visual attention; i.e., see at close range.
  • Lifting 50 lbs.

Salary Range:

This is an exempt position. Salary is commensurate with qualifications, education and experience according to salary guidelines established by the Tennessee Board of Regents.  Salary range:  $49,159 to $64,259.
