Job description

Under the general direction of the Director of Human Resources, the incumbent manages all aspects of human resources and payroll functions for the Office of the Deans, and serves as the primary contact person on HR, Compensation, Employee Relations, payroll issues and policies for the five Divisions in the College of Letters and Science.
Ensures implementation of campus directives from Campus Human Resources for the College. Advises and trains College departmental personnel on new HR systems and policies. Prepares job descriptions for the Office of the Deans and assists College departments with their job descriptions. Monitors all PeopleAdmin transactions for compensation and serves as backup for employment transactions for the College departments. Makes recommendations based on analysis of information from UCPath. Analyzes and reports on staff data and trends to determine staff compensation. Works with campus entities in addressing staff FML and accommodation needs.
In coordination with the College's Information Services, designs, develops and maintains effective staff databases such as timesheet utility and merit application, with capabilities for data analysis and reporting.
The College includes five instructional and research divisions: Humanities, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences and Undergraduate Education. It encompasses 34 departments, 40 specialized programs and organized research units, with 27,000 students, more than 3000 staff members and over 100 undergraduate majors and degree granting programs that span research and teaching in the liberal arts and sciences.

Required/Preferred
1. Extensive Human Resources generalist experience in administering personnel policies and procedures, payroll, recruitment and selection, benefits policies, employee relations, including disciplinary and grievance procedures, compensation and training & development.

2. Strong organizational and time management skills, initiative and ability to assume responsibility for special projects.

3. Skill in writing concise, logical, and grammatically correct correspondence.

4. Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data and report on results in a succinct manner, and use the results to develop recommendations for future actions.

5. Demonstrated computer skills, including knowledge of Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

6. Demonstrated ability and experience in use of various UCLA online systems such as UCPath, PTR, QDB, RDS, SLS and Payroll Transfers.

7. Ability to establish priorities over multiple assignments; work accurately and effectively with a high volume of detailed work with frequent deadlines and
constant interruptions.

8. Knowledge of Office of APB policies and procedures in management of sub 1 accounts on state funds.
