Basic Requirements
- Mentorship Experience -- We want to hear how you've helped others grow and develop.
- Narrative Building & Essay Writing -- You'll shape and present the narratives of your students.
- Nice and Funny -- We want to work with likeable people, and so do our families.
- Meticulous -- Staying organized, being on time, and avoiding typos is critical.
- At least 10 hours/week to meet with students or review essays.
Pluses but not Requirements
- Charitable -- We work with socioeconomically disadvantaged students at need-based rates; we'd like someone who can help out with that part of our mission.
- College Advising Experience -- have you successfully helped others navigate the college admissions process?
What you'll do
- Videochat with high school students to help them successfully navigate the college admissions process.
- Use your knowledge of the college process to help students select reach, target, and safety schools.
- Help students brainstorm, write, and edit college essays.
- Track deadlines and edit paperwork to ensure that mistakes are avoided

Application Timeline
Counseling is a seasonal job unlike SAT prep, so for timeline we will begin interviewing candidates March 1st and will send offer letters on May 1st. Counselors will begin meeting with students in June and work continuously until applications are submitted in January.
