This position is responsible for coding, release of information, referral coordination, data entry, reception coverage and other duties as assigned to ensure seamless office operations of Student Health Service.

• Coding duties:
- Assign CPT and ICD-10 codes
- Work with Insurance Coordinator to resolve any denied claims
- Provide ongoing education to clinical staff and other coding staff
• Medical records duties:
- Maintain patient confidentiality
- Be proficient in the use of the electronic medical record
- Process release of information requests in a timely manner
- Incorporate all pertinent external documents into the patient's chart
• Referral duties:
- Scheduling appointments,
- Send related appointment documentation
- Send following-up record requests
- Uploading documentation to the EHR
- Communicate with students regarding important referral information
• Reception duties:
- Greeting and checking in patients
- Scheduling appointments
- Answering phones
- Data entry
• Other duties as assigned
Work Schedule:
40 hours per week during the academic year; 24 hours per week during summer
Business Hours are Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM during the academic year and Monday-Friday 7:30AM-4PM during summer and recognized breaks
Advertised Salary:
Commensurate with experience
Minimum Qualifications:
• Associate's Degree in health information, Medical Records, computer information processing, information systems, or related field or Coding Certification
• 1 year minimum coding experience
• 1 year minimum experience in Medical Records environment
• Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD, CPT and HCPCS
• Current Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification
Preferred Qualifications:
• Peoplesoft
• Medicat EHR
• Computer skills in Microsoft Office including excel, word and outlook
