Job Details:
Schedule: Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.
Starting Wage: $16

Position Summary:
  • This position is responsible for controlling rodent, insect, bird and other pest populations that pose a biosecurity risk to the farm by performing all essential duties. Other duties may be assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Controls rodent, bird, and insect activity by replacing used bait with fresh bait in external bait stations in all areas of the farm and recording rodent activity on checklist, removing bird nests and installing barriers to prevent the building of new nests, and applying insecticides as recommended per manufacturer label in office and supply holding area (70%)
  • Maintain adequate inventory of regularly stocked farm supplies and order as needed (10%)
  • Safely operate a company vehicle to deliver lab samples and obtain supplies (10%)

Minimum Requirements
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be approved to drive a company vehicle, per the Transportation Department.
  • Must be willing to achieve and maintain a respirator certification for flock depopeulation team. TMs must remain clean shaven during all scheduled work hours.

Other duties, responsibilities, and activities:
  • Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. Such as: Assists contractor vehicles with entrance to farm, operate a high pressure and regular water hose, maintain vehicle by checking fluid levels, filters, tire pressure, and clean/disinfect to remove debris, maintains foot pans and hand sanitizer, maintains a clean and organized work area. (10%)

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements:
  • The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Must regularly lift and/or move items such as vehicle parts, fan motors, tools weighing up to 50 pounds. Regularly uses a pallet jack to move skids of supplies and various on-farm equipment weighing up to 2000 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to climb ladders; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Tools and Equipment: Requires use of hand tools such as hammer, wire cutters; power tools such as drill, circular saw; safe operation of vehicle to and from work area.
  • Environment: Required to work outdoors in all types of weather and on wet, slippery surfaces.
  • Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety goggles and/or glasses, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required. Must wear company provided facial covering. Ear plugs will be worn as required by task. NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators may be worn as desired.
  • Chemicals Commonly Used: Rodenticides, insecticides, disinfectants, vehicle fluids, and lubricants.
  • Safety: Team member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment. Team member is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks.
  • Mask policy will be in accordance with any local, state, or federal requirements but will be provided to any Team Member wishing to wear a mask.
