Coatings Technician

Job Summary: Coatings team members are responsible for setting up, operating, and cleaning/maintaining the machines that apply Undercoat and Line-X to the bottom of the manufactured trailers in a fast paced, team-oriented environment while maintaining a safe, clean and organized work area.

Essential Functions:

• Ensure your own safety by always using designated personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools designed and rated for the task, complying with safety regulations and maintaining a clean and organized workspace, including but not limited to safety glasses, steel-toed boots, respirator, and bump cap if under a trailer.
• Report to work on time to support production startup and throughput goals.
• Safely stage trailers by lifting them via an automotive hoist to prepare them for undercoating.
• Inspect trailer after wash bay to ensure that surfaces are properly prepared for coatings.
• Apply coatings onto manufactured products using a heavy heated hose with applicator gun.
• Maintain equipment by cleaning nozzles, containers, and hoses of machines
• Read and understand work orders and work instructions
• Perform quality checks both before and after coatings application
• Able to work in a team environment to achieve production goals
• Operate all power tools and machinery in the coatings department effectively and respectfully.
• Read and understand work orders, schedules, and work instructions.
• Perform quality checks and product inspections by completing final inspection sheets, as directed by assigned production supervisor.
• Perform daily inspections on equipment prior to shift startup to ensure the safety of you and your coworkers, as well as the operational effectiveness of equipment.

Qualifications and Requirements

• High School Diploma / GED, or equivalent preferred, plus demonstrated skills and abilities in directly job-related experiences.
• Possess good physical stamina and coordination with the ability to safely lift 80 pounds with prolonged periods of standing.
• Able to work 10 hour shifts with potential overtime.
• Willing to submit a pre-employment background check
• Able to work in a self-directed way to manage multiple demands of time and attention in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
