The Position
What You Will Do
1. Implement and develop (both independently and in collaboration with BBP staff, partners and stakeholders) existing and new Coastal Sustainability, resiliency, and related projects (e.g., stormwater management, wetland restoration, living shorelines) throughout the Barnegat Bay watershed; moreover, develop grant applications individually and collaboratively with other staff and partners, and manage those grants and sub-awards, including budgets and project reports, as directed.
2. Work with BBP staff, partners, and stakeholder communities to develop strategies to grow engagement with overburdened communities. Coordinate integration of principles of diversity, equity, justice, inclusion, and accessibility into BBP projects and activities.
3. Engage and coordinate with partners and regional coastal stakeholders, including local government and other community organizations on climate change, Coastal Sustainability and resiliency issues; identify and develop collaborative and independent activities for BBP support and implementation.
4. Coordinate and assist other staff with BBP research and outreach to ensure a technical foundation on core responsibilities (e.g., climate sustainability and resiliency); develop communication materials in various media to advance greater public awareness and understanding of climate change, sustainability, and related issues; ensure that all climate, sustainability, and related research and outreach products are technically sound and publicly resonant.
5. Assist the BBP Director and other staff regarding BBP programmatic tasks, (e.g., State of the Bay Reports), budget and finance issues, and responses to inquiries from BBP partners, coastal stakeholders, legislators, and the public regarding climate change, Coastal Sustainability, and related topics.
6. Periodically plan, organize, coordinate and/or assist with arrangements for conferences and workshops with other BBP staff and other federal, state, and local government organizations, as assigned.
7. Lead teams of BBP staff as assigned, including but not limited to interns, student workers, and part-time and/or temporary employees.
8. Attend professional and technical meetings, symposia, and workshops; maintain appropriate competency core disciplines and in computer technology.

The Successful Candidate Must Have
1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant environmental or social science field.
2. At least three years of experience developing and implementing all aspects (i.e., grant writing, planning, budgeting, management, and reporting) of environmental or social science projects.
3. At least three years of work experience engaging and educating the public on environmental and/or social science topics or issues, including some experience on diversity, equity, and inclusion topics.
4. At least one year of experience working both independently and in teams with federal, state, and local government agencies, academic institutions, nongovernmental organizations, businesses, and/or the public.
5. Strong technical and analytical skills; one year of experience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting environmental or social science data.
6. Exemplary writing, editing, and oral communication skills; at least one year of experience developing and editing written and verbal communications, especially (but not limited to) oral presentations, scientific and other technical reports, and grant proposals.
Even Better If You Have
1. Master’s degree in a relevant environmental or social science field.
2. Fluency in reading, writing, and conversing in Spanish.
3. Experience working in overburdened/underserved communities and/or working on diversity, equity, and inclusion projects or issues.
