Job description

Resilient Southwest Georgia Coalition Coordinator Job Description

Mission Statement and Vision

Helping communities to identify and prevent at-risk situations that children may face, create trauma-informed communities to engage with children who may have experienced trauma, while also raising awareness around children’s mental health. Our vision is much like Resilient Georgia’s and that every child and young adult in Georgia will have access to high-quality, integrated behavioral health services and support, empowered by a regional network of trauma-informed organizations working together to prevent and heal childhood adversity.

Brief History & Overview

Resilient Georgia (RG) was founded in 2019 by two passionate mental and behavioral health advocates dedicated to preventing and healing Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and concerned by the siloed behavioral health-based work being conducted in our state. They saw the need for a statewide backbone organization comprised of both private and public organizations that would celebrate the work being done in our state, connect and convene diverse partners, and break down barriers of all sizes.

Vashti Center, the coalition’s oversight organization, was awarded funding to help grow this statewide initiative in July of 2020 as a two-person team in the midst of a pandemic. We were one of 16 Regional Grantees chosen in their second round of funding. Over the years, our coalition has effectively trained over 3,000 community members in a nine-county catchment area, and has tripled community partnerships over the last year through training and awareness raising events.

Next Steps: 100% Coverage Across the State

Through a network of local and regional public and private partners, Resilient SWGA is creating a pipeline of trauma-informed community partners that support child and family wellness. Through advocacy, policy, research, education, training, grant-seeking, and grant-making at the regional level, Resilient SWGA seeks to be the essential and diverse collaborative of partners helping to develop new policies, systems, and environments in our part of the state, with an emphasis on preventing and healing ACEs, supporting resilience and being trauma-informed. To reach all communities in our area it requires progressive and essential capacity building. You will be joining a small but passionate team that currently consists of two staff. Over the next few years, we will continue to thoughtfully grow our community partnerships and programs. Together we hope to make a large impact through our shared vision and commitment to supporting the resilience of the communities we serve.
