Job Description
The PAT Co-teaching Facilitator is responsible for supporting WNC's PAT Co-teaching Lead Faculty and Affiliate Instructors (excluding ECON) in the co-teaching model. Further, the PAT Co-teaching Facilitator will develop a tiered training program for high school CTE teachers who need additional support to acquire technical skills or improve teaching practices to meet the standards of the co-teaching model.
The goal of the position is to help ensure student success through instructor success and consistency by developing scalability and sustainability in the Co-teaching Program. This position will play an important role in the growth of PAT dual enrollment and WNC's adherence to college, system, and accreditation
guidelines.
For program success, consistency in affiliate training, class management, and program application, is critical. The Co-teaching Facilitator will help to ensure consistency by orienting, training, and collaborating with Lead Faculty and Affiliate Instructors before the semester begins and promoting functional communities of practice within each of the co-teaching groups and among Co-teaching Lead Faculty. A one-year commitment is preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • In collaboration with the Learning & Innovation staff, support Co-Teaching Leads to: Design and implement a Canvas shell that meets program requirements for each course; this will include the creation of rubrics, assignments, and course materials (including suitable OER materials) as necessary.
  • Schedule and organize pre-semester sessions for Co-teaching Leads to provide training to their assigned Affiliate instructors.
  • Maintain regular contact with all Co-teaching Leads, before and during the semester, to provide supports as questions or challenges arise as well as ensure fulfillment of assigned responsibilities.
  • Develop a community of practice consisting of all Co-teaching Leads, convening periodic meetings to discuss relevant topics that support success including, but not limited to, best practices, identifying/addressing challenges, areas/ideas for improvement, self-reflection, etc.
  • Document outcomes of these meetings to guide future program improvement.
  • For Affiliate instructors, collaborate with the Learning & Innovation staff to provide Canvas training prior to the semester and on-going Canvas support during the semester.
  • Work collaboratively with Co-teaching Leads to facilitate regular communication with Affiliate instructors, ensure Affiliate instructors are aware of college deadlines and staying current with grading
  • Address any special needs or concerns related to the Affiliate instructors' population of students; develop and facilitate communities of practice among their Affiliate instructors (similar
    disciplines or cross-disciplinary) to discuss relevant topics that support success including, but not limited to, best practices, identifying/addressing challenges, areas/ideas for improvement, self-reflection, etc.

At the conclusion of each semester:
  • Collect and report assessment data for every section of each course as well as conduct a debrief with all Co-teaching Leads, reporting feedback to drive program review and improvement.
  • Develop a tiered training program to support high school CTE teachers to become qualified Affiliate instructors to include -
  • Methods for assessing the high school CTE teacher's technical skills and curriculum delivery
  • Options for developing the high school CTE teacher's technical skills and curriculum delivery to meet college standards;
  • Anticipated resource needed to execute, including faculty time, proposed budget, etc.

Pilot implementation of the tiered training program, should the opportunity arise, to include:
  • Support the discipline specific lead instructor in assessing the high school teacher's skill
  • level and determining the best option for developing those skills to meet college standards;
  • Adjust and revise the training, as needed, based on instructor and teacher feedback
  • Utilize data gathered from the pilot to make necessary improvements to the initial training program.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the specified discipline or a closely related field.
  • Experience teaching college level courses is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with college faculty, staff and students.

This position is for the Liberal Arts Division.
Compensation:
Stipend ($5000) for summer Co-teaching Lead guidance, organization of pre-semester training schedule, enrollment support
• Credit release during the semester to be determined by breadth of assignment for faculty support, community of practice, assessment, etc.
