Valley View is seeking a full time Radiation Oncology Physicist Traveler to join the team at the leading cancer treatment facility in the Rockies!

GENERAL OBJECTIVES

  • Engages in the design optimization, technical evaluation, and precise and accurate delivery of treatment plans.
  • Responsible for the radiation protection of patients and staff.
  • Designs and implements all aspects of the quality management program that involve the use of external beam radiotherapy equipment and therapeutic radioisotopes.
  • Reviews and approves the procedures followed by the radiation staff in the delivery of the prescribed dose.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs the Radiation Oncology physics program, which includes the technical direction of medical dosimetrists, therapy equipment service engineers and other physics support staff.
  • Calibrates therapy equipment in a manner that ensures accurate radiation dose delivery.
  • Directs the determination of radiation dose distribution in patients undergoing treatment (i.e. computerized dosimetry planning or direct radiation measurement).
  • Directs and/or performs the acceptance testing of new equipment and treatment devices.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Master of Science or Doctoral Degree in Radiological Physics, Physics, or related discipline
  • Certification by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Radiological Physics or Radiological Physics and compliance with the ACR Standard for Continuing Medical Education
  • Must meet any requirements imposed by the federal or state radiation control agency to practice Radiation Oncology physics and/or provide oversight by the establishment and conduct of the radiation quality management program.
  1. Colorado requirements include Registered Medical Physicist required.
  2. Qualified Expert, Qualified Inspector, Authorized Medical Physicist for HDR and medical brachytherapy, and Authorized Radiation Safety Officer if that duty is to be performed by the Physicist will consider.

Experience:

  • 5+ years post-degree clinical experience or completion of a post-degree clinical medical physics residency program under the preceptorship of a physicist certified by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Radiological Physics or Radiological Physics
