  1. Position Purpose
This position reports to the Athletics Director. This is a professional coaching position and all of the duties of the position must be conducted in adherence with the policies, rules, and regulations of affiliated national, regional, and state intercollegiate athletic associations, the NJCAAE, and Hocking College.
The Head Coach – Cheer is responsible for coaching student athletes, recruiting, monitoring student athlete academic progress, scheduling, managing travel and overseeing the discipline, conduct, and image of the student athlete.

  1. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all cheer activities.
  • Lead recruiting, instructing and retaining highly skilled student-athletes for the cheer team.
  • Give instruction to student-athletes on the fundamentals of cheerleading.
  • Lead the marketing and promotion of HC Cheer.
  • Counsel student-athletes in sport participation, personal development and academics.
  • Assist in the monitoring of student-athletes academic progress.
  • Drive student athletes or other students to team activities and/or athletic events.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Motivate team to become successful.
  • Interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations, the College community and the public.
  • Communicate effectively and support the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs and Athletic Director.
  • Qualifications – Education, Experience, and Skills
  • Player or coach experience in cheerleading at the college or professional level required.
  • Must have a good driving record and pass a background check.
  • Maintain Confidentiality.
  • Must be able to work summer camps
  • Organizational skills.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility.

  1. Qualifications – Education, Experience, and Skills
  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in an appropriate area of specialization,
  • One year of coaching experience at the high school or higher level.
  • Successful experience as a graduate student or intern is acceptable for up to one year of the required experience.
  • Additional education and/or experience may be required for certain sports.
  • Related coaching experience at the professional level can be substituted for the degree requirements.
IV. Stipend
  • $10,000 from July1 through June 30
