Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Messer Plasma Machine Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating Messer Plasma cutting equipment within the Piping & Structural Fabrication Departments.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate Messer Plasma cutting machines and other related equipment.
- Load programs, align plates, and create programs using CAD files.
- Convert measurements from fractions/inches to decimals.
- Track material usage, calculate scrap factor, and maintain raw material inventories.
- Verify part quality against specified BOM/Drawing measurements.
- Operate overhead cranes safely and efficiently.
- Nest work orders to maximize material and machine efficiency using MACRO and CAD files installed on the Messer drive.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks on the Messer Plasma cutting machines, including cleaning, lubricating, and minor repairs.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and procedures, including wearing appropriate PPE and conducting machine inspections.
- Collaborate with team members, engineers, and production planners to optimize cutting processes, troubleshoot issues, and ensure project timelines are met.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including training opportunities and staying updated with industry advancements in plasma cutting technology.
- Other task assigned by TAS.
JOB SKILLS:
- Ability to read blueprints and follow product specifications.
- Good command of the English language, both written and verbal.
- Technical proficiency in plasma cutting principles, CNC programming, and CAD software for nesting programs.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
EDUCATION & TRAINING:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Two years of experience operating Messer Plasma cutting machines or similar CNC plasma cutting equipment.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Forklift certification.
- Knowledge of metal fabrication processes and materials.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Familiarity with quality control procedures and inspection techniques.
