Summary/Objective:
The CNC Programmer will write CNC programs to cut tooling patterns for vacuum forming plastic parts. They may also assist tooling designers and other machinists with creating and modifying CNC programs. The CNC Programmer will also utilize CAD/CAM to download 3D models to CNC machines. He/she will coordinate changes with the design engineering department as needed. The position ensures that programs are ready for pattern production in advance to prevent downtime. They will communicate with co-workers regarding timelines and maintain a safe, organized and clean work environment and adheres to our Quality Standards.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or graduation from a certified technical school
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience with CNC programming
Essential Functions:

- Understand 2D and 3D drawings and create CNC programs.
- Fusion 360
- Prepare new or modified nests for 5 axis CNC.
- Transfer new or modified programs to machines.
- Verify program accuracy compared to product print before transferring to machines.
- Create and maintain setup/instruction sheets for all programs.
- Review CNC programs, inserts and tooling to minimize machining cycle times and reduce tooling or material costs.
- Maintains program file organization in the company share folder to prevent unnecessary downtime.
- Understand all insert and tooling inventory and support the management of those components.
- Assist with part quoting estimates.
- Complete special assignments as requested.
- Uses gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
- Understands and can perform tool wear offsets.
- Assists in the organization and maintenance of the machine shop work environment.
- Is flexible with time and schedule to assure availability to customer or company as circumstances warrant.
Competencies:

- Working knowledge of G-Code programming; not required but helpful
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks
- Demonstrated ability to interpret technical drawings
- Experience using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments

- Creative, thinks outside of the box
- Strong technical aptitude: has the ability to visualize fabrication steps and think through a complete manufacturing process

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time hourly position, and hours of work and days are decided by production schedules and your reporting manager.
