Primary Objective
Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, produce quality parts according to specifications utilizing and operating the following pieces of CNC equipment, Mills, Lathe, Water jets and/or 5-axis routers. Must be able to work nights, days, and weekends.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Strictly adheres to Company and Plant safety policies and procedures.
- Perform a variety of housekeeping tasks, keeping immediate work area safe, organized and free from debris.
- Proven mechanical aptitude.
- Possess strong math and computer skills.
- Minimum of 6 months operating/training on related CNC equipment preferred-including setup, operation and tooling.
- Understanding of tooling requirements for the CNC machines.
- Must be able to verify program scanned matches print accurately.
- Perform simple edits to machine programming such as adding offsets, changing of tool heights, etc.
- Troubleshoot difficult setups and seek improvements with Supervisors, Development and/or Leadsto identify solution.
- Inspect CNC Tooling and fixtures to maintain maximum effectiveness and report issues to Supervisors, Development and/or Leads as needed.
- Provide input to Supervisors, Leads, Development or others on different methods of producing existing parts within tolerances.
- Ability to follow Customer Specifications and produce parts that meet the specifications.
- Possess the ability to read mechanical or applicable drawings.
- Consistently produce quality parts within required tolerances and goal times.
- Become proficient in measuring parts using calipers, protractors, tape measure and other gauges to determine key product dimensions.
- Become proficient identifying job specific paperwork and have an understanding of how it relates to the process.
- Become proficient in tracking recording accurate information on activity logs, key dimension sheets, etc.
- Become proficient in the understanding and execution basic operations, set ups and techniques as related to shop order guidelines VSW documentation.
- Become proficient at being able to access and use VSW's from M-Files via company provided electronic tablets.
- Become proficient at the setup and operation of at least one CNC machine independently.
- Become proficient in understanding G and M code.
- Become proficient in diagnosing setup/run issues, such as workholding/tooling errors, program errors, machine errors, etc., and what the proper corrective action is.
- Acquire an understanding of physical inspection criteria and notify lead or supervisor if defects are observed.
- Able and willing to train other level 2 CNC Operators through OJT to support growth.
- Must be able to perform the job within the range and scope of the Fabrication CNC Operator Work Instructions.
- Other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent desired.
- Above average English communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Even tempered, friendly disposition and a positive can-do attitude.
Physical Demands
- Able to lift 60 lbs repetitively.
- Able to work up to 12 hour rotating shifts.
- Able to stand on concrete for extended periods of time.
- Ergonomics and position must be a priority as CNC equipment is in constant motion utilizing cutting tools.
Work Environment
- Be able to work in a production environment.
- Able to walk, stand and otherwise perform job functions on concrete floors with safety boots/shoes.
- Works in manufacturing environment occasionally being exposed to Phenolic dust, cooling fluids, odors, fumes and noise.
