Cary Medical Center has an exciting opportunity for a 24 hr CNA/Unit Secretary to join their Acute Care team. This applicant would be responsible to ensure the processing of ancillary department orders. Manage information via telephone, call bell, and direct conversation by directing to the appropriate person(s). Participate in up-staffing and down-staffing for the present and incoming shift in collaboration with the Charge Nurse/Supervisor/Nurse Manager. Perform CNA functions when requested, if applicable. Maintains a positive working relationship with coworkers and other health care professionals. Utilizes excellent customer service skills.
Essential Job Duties:
A. Unit Secretary Duties
- Maintains unit supplies and equipment to meet patient care needs.
- Assists the Charge Nurse/Supervisor/Nurse Manager in determining unit needs on an annual basis.
- Assists Charge Nurse/Supervisor/Nurse Manager in problem-solving unit and patient needs.
- Manages patient call system and responds appropriately and timely to patient requests.
- Provides continuity of patient orders, day-to-day and shift-to-shift with appropriate follow-up.
- Expediently manages "STAT" orders.
Other Duties:
- Complies with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Requirements
Licenses and Education:
- Must have an active valid CNA certificate in Maine.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Obtains BLS certification within 1 year of hire into this position and maintains current certification thereafter.
