The Home Hospice & Serenity House CNA works under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs various services for a patient as necessary to meet the patient’s personal needs and to promote the comfort, quality, continuity, and safety of a patient’s care. They are responsible for observing the patient, reporting these observations, and documenting observations and care performed.

Essential Job Functions include but are not limited to:
- Assumes and maintains responsibility for caseload as assigned and keeps supervisory personnel informed as the need arises.
- Performance of tasks associated with personal hygiene care i.e. bathing, shampooing, and dressing.
- Performance of tasks associated with activities of daily living i.e. housekeeping, laundry, meal prep, etc.
- Performance of tasks associated with the mobility of clients i.e. transfers, assisting with ambulation, and repositioning.
- Accurately completes daily documentation as required; timesheet, clinical notes, etc.
- Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Communicates readily with clients and staff.
- Dedication to customer service for patients, families, visitors, providers, and co-workers throughout the partnership.
- Displays therapeutic, empathetic, and courteous communication with patients and their families.
Requirements include but are not limited to:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
- 75-hour CNA course certification required.
- Must be listed on the Iowa Nurse Aide Registry at the time of hire.
- Required to be current in BLS (Basic Life Support) by the standards of the American Heart Association.
- Required to show proof of having completed Mandatory Reporter course at the time of hire or attend within 6 months of the start date.
- Must adhere to all training requirements as mandated by Federal, State, and Professional licensure and regulatory standards.
- Ability to clearly communicate orally and in writing in the performance of activities associated with the job.
- Basic computer knowledge to complete the necessary functions of the position.
- Able to perform simple mathematical calculations.
- Must have completed hospice and philosophy training.
