**Up to $5,000 Sign-On Bonus. GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES – Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic care to acutely ill patients, assists with transport of patients to / from departments, assists in retrieving supplies for departments, assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Supporting ORHC values, mission, and goals
- Following ORHC and unit specific hospital policies and procedures
- Responsible for the delivery of patient care related to bathing, grooming, ambulating, feeding, toileting, positioning, and transporting as directed by the RN or LPN
- Responsible for measuring and recording of oral intake and output
- Responsible for measuring, recording, and reporting vital signs including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, oxygen saturation to primary nurse
- Responsible for passing and assisting with nourishments
- Maintain environmental and infection control standards
- Assures call lights are promptly responded to and reports any abnormal findings or complaints to primary nurse
- Prepares patient room for admission and discharge.
- Demonstrating accountability by attending 100% of all mandatory in-services
- Flexible in own schedule to meet the needs of the department
- Retrieve and deliver supplies to various departments
- Transport patients to and from departments (Excludes labor or cardiac monitored patients)
- Maintains harmonious relationship with co-workers, providing support and assistance to co-workers to ensure quality patient care
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Possess knowledge in the basic care of the medical / surgical / telemetry patient population with direction from the RN or LPN
- Possess knowledge for accurately obtaining and reporting vital signs
- Recognizes deterioration of patient condition and promptly reports to the nurse, or initiates the rapid response team or code team if appropriate
- Ability to follow the dysphagia management designed for patients when assisting with feeding.
- Understanding of care practices for patients with indwelling Foley catheters
- Understand techniques required for turning and positioning patients
- Understand utilization of proper body mechanics
- Ability to recognize changes in skin condition
- Ability to provide emotional support to patients / families
- Proper use of transport stretchers, wheelchairs, walkers, lifts, and canes
- Ability to apply prosthetic limbs, braces, and compression stockings
- Knowledge in use of computers
EDUCATION:
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
- Completion of and certification from an approved 75 or 120 hour nursing assistant program
EXPERIENCE:
- Prefer prior experience as a CNA in acute care, but not required
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:
- BLS within 90 days of hire
