CNA CDCR CONTRACT

Under the supervision of the Supervising Registered Nurse II/III, Correctional Facility (CF), and thedelegation and clinical direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), CF and other members of the licensednursing team, the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), CF performs various patient care activities andrelated nonprofessional health care activities for patients in a variety of treatment facilities and healthcare settings. As directed and in collaboration with the nursing care team, the CNA, CF is primarilyresponsible for performing basic nursing care procedures, assisting patients with physical, personalcare, activities of daily living, and ambulatory assistance needs. The CNA, CF is responsible foraddressing the ongoing needs of patients, working with the licensed nursing staff and other healthcare providers, and promoting the efficient, appropriate, and cost-effective use of health careresources.

Persons appointed to this position must be reasonably expected to have and maintain sufficientstrength, agility, and endurance to perform during stressful (physical, mental, and emotional) situationsencountered on the job without compromising their health and well-being or that of their fellowemployees or that of inmates.Assignments may include sole responsibility for the supervision of inmates and/or the protection of personaland real property.

Possession of a valid Nursing Assistant Certificate issued by the California Department of PublicHealth.

Routine techniques for bathing, feeding, lifting, and transporting patients, making beds,and caring for patients' clothing and other property; hospital routine and procedure; appropriatemethods and attitudes for meeting the physical and psychosocial needs of physically ill and/or disabledpatients; and basic first aid.Ability to: Develop skills in the performance of routine hospital techniques of bathing, feeding, lifting, andtransporting patients, making beds, and caring for patients' clothing and other property; assist medically trainedpersonnel; communicate at the level required for successful job performance; keep simple records; follow oraland written directions; and analyze situations accurately and participate in an appropriate course of action.
