Job description

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) position for AdventHealth Hendersonville located in Hendersonville, NC .
GENERAL SUMMARY :
Reporting to the hospital CEO, the Chief Medical Officer serves as facilitator, coordinator and liaison for all medical affairs. Responsible for regulatory compliance with respect to medical staff organization, bylaws, rules and regulations. Oversees Risk Management, Quality Initiatives and the credentialing process for the medical staff. Facilitates communication and coordination between the medical staff and the administration of the organization. Serves on executive team and coordinates/collaborates with other senior executives to achieve organizational integration with respect to medical affairs and quality .
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Responsible to help meet the organization's objectives .
  • Responsible to drive continuous improvement in the quality of patient care including participating in relevant medical staff committees.

  • Provides medical/scientific assessments for new business opportunities when requested .
  • Directly responsibility for the following Departments: Risk Management, Quality Improvement, Infection Prevention, and Medical Staff Office.
  • Primary Executive Point of Contact for the following providers (employed and private practitioners)
  • Responsible for organizing and maintaining a CME program for the Medical Staff and liaison with MAHEC.
  • Administrative responsibility for Medical students, Physicians' Assistant Students, CRNA Students, and Family Nurse Practitioner Students rotating through AdventHealth Hendersonville inpatient and outpatient sites.

  • Responsible for compliance with regulatory agencies of credentialing providers and other physician related services.
  • Provides leadership for upgrading computerized medical records and supports and assists in training medical staff throughout the process.
  • Primary responsibility for the ongoing monitoring of provider practice quality in collaboration with the Medical Staff leadership. This includes responsibility for counseling, advising, and implementing Focused Provider Practice Evaluation (FPPE) and On-going Provider Practice Evaluation (OPPE).
  • Serves as Physician Advisor to the Care Management Team reviewing appropriateness of Admission and managing Length of Stay.
  • Responsible for medical affairs program including coordinating activities related to provider's wellness and engagement.

  • Ensures the design and interpretation of valid clinical studies, generating data supportive of regulatory applications and business/marketing objectives .
  • Keeps abreast of current state-of-the-art developments relating to medical program focus and provides education/consulting to other project team members, as needed.
  • Medical Director for AH Hendersonville's Physician Services which includes employed primary care and specialist physicians and mid-level providers.
  • Responsible for onboarding all new Medical Staff.

Qualifications
EDUCATION , EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE REQUIRED :
  • MD or DO degree
  • 10 years professional, post-residency experience in direct patient care with a strong record of clinical practice excellence
  • 5 years in a medical staff leadership role within a medium to large integrated health system
  • Current unrestricted license to practice medicine

  • Certification by a Board of the American Board of Medical Specialists or the American Osteopathic Association

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE PREFERRED :
  • Master's degree in Business Administration , Healthcare Administration, Medical Management, or Public Health
  • 10 years in a medical staff leadership role within a medium to large integrated health system

  • 5 years in an executive leadership role within a medium to large integrated health system
  • Certified Physician Executive
