Job Description
Summary:
We are looking for an efficient CMM Programmer and Metrology Technician responsible for inspecting and qualifying a variety of products to drawing specifications and reporting, typically in AS9102 format. The person in this role is responsible for CMM measurements, to qualify incoming materials, in-process qualification, and assembly product of final FAI inspection measurements. This position is responsible for CMM programming using a strong knowledge of the software program CMM Manager, as well as utilizing a variety of touch/scan CMM probe(s).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform inspections on a variety of products and related assembly components, of various size and complexity, using CMM and other standard or special inspection equipment available
- Responsibilities include creation and management of the CMM routine files, CMM Reports, and CMM Set-Up Sheets
- Review associated documentation for completeness and accuracy
- Use advanced knowledge and application of CMM Programming skills; create CMM programs for new and existing parts
- Apply concepts of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T) as applicable
- Provide support for New Product Development and Tool Design with respect to programming and fixture design for new parts
- Support continuous improvement of CMM Programs for efficiency and accuracy using proper measurement techniques
- Apply knowledge and use of sampling plans to affect an increase or reduction in product verifications when required
- Conduct capability studies from the CMM as required
- Perform Gage Reliability and Repeatability (GR&R) as needed
- Perform routing CMM Preventative Maintenance per a set schedule as required
- Understand gage calibration/control and assist gage control personnel with gage calibration when needed
- Perform statistical analysis of data in QC calculation software on CMM
- Execute probe calibration program independently, create programming using touch probe and understanding of the different usage/application of different styles
- Develop and maintain part setup, utilizing CMM fixturing for more precise measurements and consistent setups the same way each time
- Perform calibration of handheld measuring instruments as required
- Contact other personnel to arrange meetings for disposition of non-conforming product

- Knowledge of CMM Manager & Nikon Series CMM’s (C3 Ares 10.7.5)
- Knowledge of Digital Product Definition/Model Based Definition (DPD/MBD) Boeing Requirements (D6-51991)
- Knowledge of AS9100/ISO9001 based Quality Management System
- Knowledge of AS9102 Aerospace First Article Inspection Requirement
- Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Must have intermediate computer skills and ability to work with Microsoft Office applications
- Must be able to work independently and meet deadlines provided
- Must be Team oriented and be able to work with all levels of employees
- 3D Modeling Ability Preferred, but not required
Education and Qualifications:
- GD&T Training per ASME Y14.5-2018 or similar preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience writing CMM Programs, and generating detailed inspection reports
- Minimum of 3 years of experience using measurement tools, such as micrometers, calipers, height gages
Supervisory Info:
- This is not a Supervisory position. This position reports to Quality Manager.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of standing and working at a station.
- Occasional kneeling, pulling, pushing, and carrying as related to equipment handling.
- Frequently walking facility to locate or meet employees.
- Must be able to lift, up to 25 pounds at times.
