Job Description
CMM Programmer creates CMM programs in accordance with ASME Y14.5, Best Practice Metrology Standards, and specific Quality / Control Plan requirements. Position is responsible for developing, documenting automated metrology related practices, maintaining availability, accuracy, and revision control of all programs generated.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following:
- Generation of advanced level complexity CMM programs
- Provide advanced level troubleshooting support to resolve metrology / manufacturing related issues.
- Identify and lead metrology related continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate and implement introduction of metrology related software & hardware.
- Develop, document, and training regarding Best Practice Metrology Standards
- Communicate issues and exceptions in meeting requirements.
- Completion of manufacturing scheduling transaction activities and programs in accordance with established schedule
- Ensuring changes made to programs are processed in accordance with change control practices and requirements.
- Ensure programs are generated in accordance with ASME Y14.5 and Best Practice Metrology Standards
- Finding resolution of inspection, data collection, documentation issues impacting Quality and Operations efforts
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or G.E.D
- 5 -7 years of experience Advanced Programming capabilities on CMM - Brown & Sharpe CMM PC DMIS preferred.
- 5-7 years working in a manufacturing or quality related field within a AS9001, ISO 9001, ISO13485, or TS 16969 environment.
- 5-7 years working in a precision metrology environment.
- CNC machining experience – preferred.
- Advanced understanding of GD&T and automated metrology practices. Completion of an advanced level GD&T training course.
- Understanding of probe / sensor calibration theory
- Intermediate to advanced understanding of Measurement Systems Analysis practices and principals
- Basic to intermediate understanding of SPC & basic statistical methods
- Basic trigonometry & algebra skills
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Good communication skills both verbal and written.
- Work independently with minimum instructions.
- Excellent time management skills

Employees must be able to cope with Minnesota climate variances, endure heat & cold conditions in the shop. Endure heavy workloads, high noise levels from hammering, and grinding (hearing protection provided). Protect against metal particles, fumes, sparks, particles, and gases (safety glasses, safety-toed boots, ear plugs, and gloves provided per the company policy guidelines).
Individuals working in an office setting will not endure some of the physical & work environments conditions of the production floor unless office is adjacent to the production floor or per the individuals job duties and/ or responsibilities. All office personnel must abide by the PPE guidelines (safety glasses, safety-toed boots that are provided per the company policy guidelines) when entering the production floor or if a requirement of a department that individual is entering or working in.
1st Shift- 6 am to 4:30 pm- Monday through Thursday
