Location: We are seeking an experienced Porter for the clubhouse at T-Mobile Park, home of the Seattle Mariners.

Since the Inaugural Game on July 15, 1999, T-Mobile Park has gained a reputation locally, regionally and nationally as a terrific setting for baseball and a great place for baseball fans. Sweeping views of Seattle's downtown skyline, breathtaking sunsets over Puget Sound, combined with excellent views of game action from all angles give fans at T-Mobile Park an experience unequalled in Major League Baseball.

Principal Function:

The Clubhouse Porter plays a key support role within the Seattle Mariners Clubhouse. They will work in a utility position, assisting in both front and back of house. They will have charge over the banquet storage areas and will assist in transporting prepared food into service areas, as well as setting up, refreshing, tearing down and assisting in the maintenance of function and meeting space.

Th Clubhouse Porter will report to the Premium Manager, and will also take direction from the Clubhouse Supervisor and Club House Sous Chef.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Follow all Sodexo Live! uniform and grooming standards.
  • Attend pre-shift meetings and follow instructions from Club House Supervisor and Clubhouse Sous Chef; Ask questions to ensure clear and complete understanding of event flow, needs and assignments.
  • Follow established procedure for time and attendance and taking assigned meal breaks.
  • Apply consistent focus on the customer and pay close attention to detail in the performance of all tasks.
  • Participate in and foster positive team relations with wait staff, fellow servers, bartenders and management.
  • Be courteous and professional in all interactions; Demonstrate Sodexo Live! standards for guest service. Be conscious of the players privacy.
  • Perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required from time to time.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Maintain cleanliness throughout the clubhouse function space, pre-function space, and storage areas, to include carpets, walls, walks, doors, windows, heating/air conditioning units, etc.
  • Maintain storeroom in a neat and organized manner.
  • Ensure rooms are stocked with appropriate supplies necessary for meetings or food functions.
  • Breakdown meeting rooms after the completion of function; Ensure that equipment and supplies are stored properly.
  • Maintain storage areas to ensure neatness, cleanliness, and organization.
  • Assist kitchen as needed with plate-up, transport of hot boxes, etc.
  • Checks Clubhouse rooms for needed repairs and light replacement on a regular basis.
  • Remove garbage from Clubhouse area.
  • Ensure that food service equipment such as chafers, heat lamps, etc. are set up and torn down as instructed.
  • Take care in the handling and storage of all catering hardware, equipment, linens and serving supplies needed for catering setup and event service.
  • Communicate as necessary with Premium Manager, Clubhouse Supervisor, Clubhouse Sous Chef.
  • Ensure the disposal or safe storage of leftover event food as prescribed by the management or Chef.
  • Confer with management regarding problems or issues in a timely manner so as not impact service or timing of events.

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Age 21 or older.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and effectively implement written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong team orientation and ability to work with a variety of departments to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work well independently.
  • Ability to work well in a high stress, fast paced environment.
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations, to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used by guests who typically visit the work location.
  • Technology aptitude for working with POS and digital register.
  • Strong skills for providing guest service with keen ability to connect easily with customers.
  • Scheduling flexibility to meet operational needs. Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.

Other Requirements:

  • Follow all established standards and guidelines for sanitation and safe food handling.
  • Continuously observe surroundings and maintain awareness of all customer activities; Immediately report suspicious, violent or inappropriate behavior.
  • Wash and dry hands frequently.
  • Utilize box cutters for opening boxes and ensure proper usage and storage of knives.
  • Utilize proper lifting procedures; Use caution when carrying trays; Utilize a hand truck or cart to transport large items and ask for assistance when necessary.
  • Do not move too quickly or run through Clubhouse or kitchen areas.
  • Move cautiously near corners and when carrying things; Report any blind corners, problem floor surfaces, or hazardous areas.
  • Subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight; must be able to maneuver in an often tightly-quartered environment.

Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
