Cloud Infrastructure Engineer II – Job Description

The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer II position will be an integral part of our talented team of cloud engineers responsible for all technology infrastructure resources. They will directly contribute to providing the highest levels of availability, performance, and security to the organization. They will be expected to interact and communicate well with all other Infrastructure teams, departments within IT, Medical Solutions staff, and third-party vendors and contractors. We expect the individual to assist or advise other IT service management teams on technical issues at a subject matter expert level. As such, the individual must possess a high degree of technical competency in many areas of IT, however network engineering and administration will be a particular focus for this position specifically. The individual will be expected to perform their duties in a thoughtful and expedient manner, be forward-thinking and resourceful, be a self-starter, and demonstrate a high level of follow-through.  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Installing/configuring/maintaining systems throughout their lifecycle: 
  • Servers and their operating systems (Windows/Linux) 
  • Client-based solutions 
  • Microsoft Azure Cloud Infrastructure 
  • VDI and applications 
  • Infrastructure as code technologies 
  • Storage technologies 
  • Backup/data protection technologies 
  • Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy components 
  • Disaster Recovery planning/participation 
  • Network design, engineering, and administration in an enterprise setting. 
  • Researching, analyzing, recommending, and implementing solutions and enhancements as a subject matter expert. 
  • Preparing and presenting system solution designs to peers, other teams, and management. 
  • Participating in infrastructure stand-ups, assigned project meetings, and other technical discussions. 
  • Actively participating in the ITSM process, including troubleshooting technical issues above a Tier-3 level and being part of the on-call rotation for non-business hours major incident management. 
  • Analyzing functions and systems within our Cloud Infrastructure to assist with performance issues and capacity planning. 
  • Coordinating with cross-functional resources such as DevOps, DBAs, Cloud Command Center, Security, etc. 
  • Creating and reviewing technical documentation relating to the overall Cloud Infrastructure
  • Working autonomously and as part of a team. 
  • Delivering assigned tasks on time and efficiently. 

Job Qualifications: 

  • 7+ years of experience in network engineering and administration 
  • Microsoft Azure networking stack 
  • VNets, NSG, Subnet firewalls, Azure firewall 
  • Azure/on-premises integration 
  • Firewalls, subnetting, VPN tunnling, routing, ACLs, topology, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, network troubleshooting tools 
  • Enterprise network environment 
  • Multiple physical sites and ISPs 
  • Complex connectivity, remote management, SD-WAN 
  • General on-premises networking equipment stack lifecycle 
  • Switches, firewalls, APs, routing, network security
  • 5+ years of experience in the following: 
  • Windows Server and Linux server administration 
  • System engineering, implementation, and maintenance of public cloud solutions 
  • Virtual server/hypervisor environment provisioning and administration 
  • Microsoft 365 administration including Office 365 
  • ITSM system use and best practices 
  • Cloud and on-premises storage management 
  • Advanced Active Directory and Group Policy administration 
  • Backup infrastructure 
  • Unified communications 
  • Technical writing and documentation development
  • Extensive familiarity with: 
  • ZTNA/VPN client management 
  • Security fundamentals and best practices 
  • System automation and scripting with PowerShell
  • Microsoft Azure Foundations or AWS Foundations certifications or equivalent 

Preferences: 

  • Multi-cloud environment administration 
  • High availability system design and maintenance 
  • Identity and access management administration 
  • SharePoint administration 
  • CI/CD software and practices 
  • Microsoft Dynamics365 
  • Azure DevOps 
  • Knowledge of the staffing industry
