Responsibilities
- Creation of an overarching strategy for establishing a secure and well-managed enterprise environment in a public cloud provider
- Drive Identity and Access Management, configuration management, and monitoring strategy for AWS
- Merging of enterprise CentOS and Windows build requirements with Amazon native AMIs and integration with Amazon native tooling
- Development of code to drive the automated deployment of application environments leveraging both off and on premise services
- Creation and delivery of development focused services both off and on premise that can be consumed via automated methods
- Establishment of core functions such as patching, lifecycle, capacity and demand management for cloud services
- Lead design process for network connectivity to AWS including necessary bandwidth and exploration of various interconnection options
- Extension of standard systems management processes into the cloud including change, incident, and problem management
- Establishment and implementation of monitoring and performance management infrastructure for both availability and performance management
- Establishment of a cost-based chargeback model, including different configurations of hardware, and incorporating application predicted elasticity
- Establishment of storage use cases and service catalog including usage of ephemeral storage, EBS, S3, and Glacier
- Integration of AWS management tooling including automation of spin-up and spin-down and billing approvals
- Design and implementation of data protection options, including HA and BCP protection at AWS
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience as a full time IT professional
- 3+ years of experience designing and supporting AWS environments
- Candidates must have a minimum of Bachelor's degree (in Computer Science, Math or Engineering)
- Demonstrable experience deploying enterprise workloads to AWS
- Optional but highly desired: knowledge of at least one other cloud hosting solution in addition to AWS (e.g. Google, Azure, Helion Cloud, SoftLayer)
- Hands-on experience with traditional virtualized services and infrastructure (VMWare, Hyper-V) and managing enterprise on-premise compute implementations
- Hands-on experience with one or more configuration management systems such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
- Thorough understanding of test driven development practices, CI/CD, and managing infrastructure as code
- Hands-on experience utilizing Amazon Web Services API
- Proficiency with Python, PowerShell, Perl, Unix shell, or other scripting languages
- Experience designing and supporting enterprise core services as well as cloud deployments of these services
- Extensive knowledge of Unix operating systems, especially RHEL/CentOS
- Working and integration with technology, development, and business teams
