Job description

Job Purpose
The Closing Officer will be responsible for coordination of the closing and the receipt and analysis of all legal diligence required for closing and multifamily agency loans (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac).
Essential Job Functions (Duties/Responsibilities)
The Closing Officer will have duties and responsibilities including but not limited to the following:
  • Coordinate and manage the legal due diligence process for commercial mortgage originations
  • Work with internal and external counsel to ensure all material issues related to the review of title policies, surveys, loan and organizational documents and UCC/litigation searches are cleared
  • Establish and maintain close communication with each transaction's originator, underwriter, closing counsel and borrower representatives
  • Manage and direct loan document modification requests and memos.
  • Prepare and issue financing commitments based upon approved loan terms
  • Responsible for the coordination of the loan closing process, preparation of loan funding holdbacks & escrows and working with outside title companies, attorneys and warehouse Lenders to ensure the loan closes
  • Review and respond to legal questions and issues presented by screening, underwriting and servicing departments

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree required
Experience: At least two (2) years of real estate closing experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Must be self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented and able to operate under strict timelines in a fast-paced environment with a high volume of transactions
  • Must possess excellent oral communication and writing skills
  • Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills required
  • Knowledge of the following a plus:
    • Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Loan Programs
    • Securitized loan documents and closing procedures
    • Title, survey and organizational structure matters

Travel: None
Arbor Realty Trust, Inc. offers a competitive base salary and discretionary bonus. The starting base salary range for this position is $70,000 to $90,000. The specific compensation that will be offered is based on an understanding of the hired candidates' qualifications at the time of hire. Employees are eligible for a discretionary bonus based on employee work performance reviewed during the course of the year. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, a full range of medical, and/or other benefits including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off benefits.
