This position is for a full time psychologist to join our family medicine residency faculty. There will be protected time to teach and to see patients at a multidisciplinary resident based clinic setting.

Responsibilities

Provide therapeutic psychological counseling.


Responsibilities:

  • Assess a patient's psychological status and provide appropriate interventions and treatments.
  • Collaborate with nursing and ancillary service to provide appropriate psychological therapy for patient. Refer patients to other disciplines for consult and evaluations as indicated.
  • Provide psychological expertise and education to multidisciplinary team. Act as resource to other disciplines.
  • Communicate complex/sensitive information to patients and medical team.
  • Administer and interpret psychological tests used for diagnosing mental and personality disorders and differentiating between organic and functional cases of behavior disorders.
Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Psychologist credentialed from the Indiana Board of Psychology obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Psychotherapist preferred.

Education:

  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) required.
Additional Preferences
  • 2 years psychology medical practice experience
  • Health Service Provider in Psychology (HSPP)
  • American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP)

Responsibilities–Clinical Care

  • Complete thorough diagnostic evaluation including all components as outlined in the psychosocial assessment tool on date seen
  • Evaluate and treat patients in accordance with established policies
  • Prepare and sign medical records and psychological testing reports in a timely manner on date seen
  • Participate in multidisciplinary clinical staffing’s to coordinate care of patients
  • Develop treatment plan with measurable goals and obtain appropriate signatures according to policy
  • Provide ongoing clinical assessment, including risk assessment
  • Achieve 50th percentile productivity by fostering clinical relationships and/or increasing scheduled appointments
  • Appropriately refer to physician for psychiatric evaluation
  • Provide individual, family, group therapy as appropriate
  • Plan for termination of treatment and complete discharge summary according to policy
  • Participate in appropriate medical/psychological utilization of psychological services
  • Cooperate in the establishment of procedures and methods of operation for psychological services
  • Assume responsibility for professional development

 

Responsibilities–Graduate Medical Education

  • Coordinate and assist with implementation of the Behavioral Medicine curriculum within the residency training program
  • Provide supervision and evaluation of residents in behavioral medicine domains of patient care
  • Teaching communication skills and behavioral health topics
  • Provide supervision and evaluation of residents in behavioral medicine domains of patient care
  • Organize and oversee the Behavioral/Community Health rotation for residents
  • Assist in providing guidance and oversight/assistance of resident scholarly inquiry
  • Assist with resident wellness initiatives
  • Coordinate, develop, plan, and deliver resident events (topics include: knowing self and others; leadership, wellness)
