General Summary: Accurately and safely performs radiology procedures in a timely manner within scope of practice or as directed by physician/nurse practitioner. Provides health care services by applying x-ray techniques to assist in diagnosis. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient’s conditions for successful completion of the procedure. Performs audiograms and routine/ STAT Electrocardiogram (EKG) knowledgeable of test requirements and test being performed. Provides patient care/services for all stages of the life span including pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
Essential Functions:
Ø Follow proper patient safety and patient identification procedures under any circumstance or environment.
Ø Compile records and maintain files according to procedures as required for accurate and up-to-date departmental records and/or reports.
Ø Demonstrate job competency to include safety, infection control, effective and safe use of equipment, and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and other lifesaving interventions when applicable.
Ø Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all results obtained through performance of test procedures.
Ø Identifies the patient information before imaging is performed.
Ø Maintains a safe, clean, and secure work environment and is prepared for emergency conditions; including but not limited to moping, sweeping, and whipping down machines and all work areas.
Ø Demonstrates the value of team concept on a consistent basis to accomplish work activities and department goals.
Ø Exhibit and promote the professional image of this position in accordance with clinic and hospital department, and professional society philosophies, goals, and standards.
Ø Completes annual education requirements and continued knowledge of field through appropriate amounts of continuing education.
Ø Always maintains patient confidentiality and understands Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPPA).
Ø Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Required Qualifications:
Ø High school diploma or equivalent.
Ø Graduate of an A.M.A. approved school of Radiologic Technology.
Ø Completion of a Mississippi Board of Medical Licensure approved Limited -ray Machine Operator (LXMO) course.
Ø Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.
Ø Experience is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
Ø Routinely able to lift forty (40) pounds.
Ø Walk and stand majority of the day.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ø Comfortable with computers, word, excel.
Ø Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ø Possess a strong eye for detail.
Ø Preferred but not required knowledge of PACS and Intelaviewer
