Title

Clinical Lab Toxicologist 

Responsibility

The extraction technician is responsible for preparing necessary solvents, specimens, and other components for the extraction laboratory.

SpecificDuties

• Prepare urine and oral fluid specimens for extraction using established standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Ability to create stock solutions, QCs, and calibrators, monitor expiration dates, and pipette appropriately.
• Prepare solutions for manual and automated solid phase and dilute and shoot extraction.
• Operate automated sample handling instrument.
• Adhering to the laboratory?s quality control policies and documenting all QC activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and instrument maintenance.
• Following the laboratory?s established acceptable levels of performance.
• Being able to identify problems that may adversely affect test performance and either correcting the problem or notifying the appropriate supervisor.
• Document new and opened reagents, calibrators, and quality controls for the EIA.
• Perform testing under the on-site direct supervision of a general supervisor.

Education

Bachelor?s Degree in Chemistry, Toxicology or a related science

License

NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLT), restricted to toxicolofy

Experience

1 year pertinent laboratory experience
