Job description

Job Summary:
Under the direction/supervision of the Program Director of Inpatient Therapy Services, the Clinical Therapist (LIC) provides group, individual, and family therapy services, participates in daily treatment team meetings, and functions as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team. The Clinical Therapist (LIC) participates in the formulation of treatment, aftercare recommendations, and safety planning. The Clinical Therapist (LIC) plans, organizes and implements services to patients and families utilizing a growth and development knowledge base in the care of the child (pediatric), adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and provides discharge planning services, emotional care, and advocacy while maintaining effective working relationships with community resources and services. The Clinical Therapist (LIC) should possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information to identify and provide the needed care. This employee will access and use an electronic medical record for patient documentation and maintain confidentiality. This employee will also demonstrate knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with medical nursing staff and with patients, their families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs. This employee will be responsible for all other assigned duties and tasks on an as-needed basis.
Performance Expectation:

  • Demonstrate the ability to provide services including individual, group, and family therapy based on a theoretical and ethical framework ( i.e., Social Work, Psychology, Marriage, and Family)
  • Demonstrate the ability to provide therapy to patients across multiple developmental stages and within an acute care setting.
  • Demonstrate the ability to complete a clinical interview and review information with patients and family members.
  • Demonstrate the ability to collaborate clinically with staff within various roles.
  • Demonstrate the willingness and ability to actively participate in helping achieve the objectives of the department; able to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Demonstrated the ability to complete all required training and/or certifications and attend all required meetings.
  • Demonstrate the ability to be flexible with changing priorities; able to tolerate high-stress situations / mental demands and make decisions that are ethically and legally sound.

Qualifications:
Education/Skills
  • Master degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or marriage and family therapy from an accredited school required.
  • Must also possess proficiency in computer skills, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills.

Work Experience:
At least one year of experience in the mental health field is preferred
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
  • Licensed to practice in MS as indicated by educational specialty (LPC, P-LPC, LMFT, LMFT-A, LMSW, LCSW)

Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on the required timeframe below
  • Basic Life Support

Mental Demands:
Must have a high energy level and be capable of handling high-pressure situations, and demonstrate leadership and initiative in providing services. Ability to organize required tasks, cooperate with others, follow policy and procedure, and relate effectively to patients, families, physicians, and other health professionals, and the general public. Ability to initiate and guide others in the problem-solving process. Ability to become familiar with community agencies.
