Job description

Under the direct supervision of a Manager of Professional Clinical Research Practice, this position develops and consolidates a Nurse's skill, knowledge, and experience in a multidisciplinary environment to be an effective member of a multidisciplinary Research and Health Care Team through a structured program in the workplace. Synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to provide support for the human response of the patient and family to changes in health status as related to both their routine and usual care and research participation. The practice of the Clinical Staff Research Nurse (CSRN) is focused on maintaining equilibrium between care of the research participant and fidelity to the research protocol. The CSRN is not directly involved in study management but plays a crucial role in ensuring correct implementation of study-related activities requiring specific skills, research education, and expertise. This specialty practice incorporates human subject’s protection, care coordination and continuity, contribution to clinical science, clinical practice, and study management throughout a variety of professional roles, practice settings and clinical specialties [International Association of Clinical Research Nurses (IACRN), 2012]. Annual Salary Range: $73,881 - $108,971QualificationsEducation:
  • Prefer a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing.
Experience:
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of direct nursing patient care.
Specialized training:
  • Must complete all IRB required Human Subject Protection training and Conflict of Interest training.
  • Must complete CITI Program Clinical Research Coordinator Foundations course or provide evidence of equivalent training within three (3) months of employment.
Certification/licensure:
  • Must possess a current, valid AZ RN license; temporary AZ RN license; or valid compact RN licensure for current state of practice.
  • Must be in good standing with the issuing Board of Nursing.
  • Requires BLS issued by the American Heart Association.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse people is a must.
  • Bilingual is preferred.
  • Must have excellent communication, time management and customer service skills.
  • Requires basic computer word processing skills (e.g. formatting, editing, printing, composing email, internet searches, etc.) to be able to successfully navigate through an electronic medical record using a computer.
