Come join a great team at State Hospital West (SHW)! The Division of Behavioral Health is seeking applicants for the position of Clinical Specialist/Nurse Practitioner for State Hospital West (SHW) located in Nampa, Idaho. SHW is a smaller Adolescent Psychiatric Treatment Hospital with one unit of 16 beds. This position will provide primary health care, psychiatric care, training/education, and participate in committees alongside the contracted medical providers and the Medical Director at SHW.
The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare is a drug-free workplace. In addition, successful candidates will be required to complete a criminal history background investigation. Employment is dependent upon satisfactory results of the investigation.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
Primary duties for this position will be primary health care, psychiatric care, training/education, and committee assignments including the following:
- Conducting thorough examinations, evaluations and assessments of patients.
- Formulate, prescribe, perform, and oversee treatment plans for patients.
- Assess medical and physical conditions and provide appropriate consultation and treatment referrals.
- Provide minor treatment when needed.
- Facilitate and provide psychiatric care, treatment, and follow up as delegated by the Medical Director.
- Administer pharmacotherapy and conduct neurological examinations and assessments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. Please make sure your resume or work history supports your meeting the minimum qualifications for this position. Failure to do this may disqualify you from being considered for this position.
- This position requires eligibility for registration as a Physician Assistant with the State Board of Medicine OR as a Nurse Practitioner with the State Board of Nursing.
