Job Title: Associate Scientist I / Cell Culture
Duration: 18 months contract, extendable up to 36 months
Location: St. Louis, MO

Job Description:
This is a laboratory-based position performing formulation and process development activities specifically for gene therapy biotherapeutic products within Pharmaceutical's portfolio from pre-clinical development through late-stage clinical studies, license application, and commercialization.
The position falls in the Pharmaceutical Research and Development department.
This position will characterize candidate gene therapies analytically using various biophysical, biochemical, and particulate characterization techniques. Furthermore, this position will assist in data compilation, data presentations, and report writing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities of this position includes but are not limited to:
Support the development of parenteral formulations for
gene therapy biotherapeutic products.
Conduct cell-based assays and cell culture work using aseptic technique.
Perform rapid, comprehensive characterization of candidate
molecules to determine the stability profile. This will be achieved by
applying various biophysical, biochemical, particulates characterization techniques such as
qPCR, HPLC (SE-HPLC, IEX, HIC, RP-HPLC), Capillary Gel electrophoresis (CGE), imaged Capillary Electrophoresis (iCE), Spectroscopy techniques, light obscuration, microflow imaging and additional techniques as required.
The incumbent must be able to interact effectively with a multidisciplinary
team of scientists for formulation optimization and
overall candidate progression.
This position will be responsible for compiling data and using lab based systems for data
collection such as empower and electronic laboratory notebooks. In addition to delivering preparing data summary presentations.
Effective communication skills are desirable for interactions with
laboratory scientists, project managers and colleagues from
numerous functions.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Essential:
Mammalian cell culture and aseptic technique experience
Proficient with cell-based assays and microscopy
Familiarity with proteins and analytical techniques
Desirable:
Experience in bioluminescence assays, plate reading, and flow cytometry
Background in qPCR, ddPCR, HPLC, capillary electrophoresis, and other
analytical techniques
Strong computer skills and experience with lab-based computer
systems
Ability to collect and analyze data sets
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
B.S. in Pharmaceutics, Cell Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Chemical/Biochemical
Engineering, Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Bioengineering,
Biotechnology, Biology or equivalent with 0-3 years' experience
Desirable:
B.S or M.S in Pharmaceutics, Cell Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Chemical/Biochemical
Engineering, Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Bioengineering,
Biotechnology, Biology or equivalent with 0-3 years' experience.
Work Experience/skills
Minimum: Newly qualified or up to 3 years industrial experience in
parenteral formulation and process development of biotherapeutics.
