Position Summary
Position oversees and coordinates complex Clinical Research studies; serves as a resource to provide comprehensive information to Clinical Research staff by promoting a smooth operation of Clinical Research; ensures billing and regulatory compliance standards are maintained.
Oversees other personnel and equipment. This position will have a leading role in planning, coordinating, and completing research studies on time and to target, as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assists in protocol development, budget development, dispensing of study funds for multi-Clinical Research projects; performs laboratory administrative functions such as scheduling, financial reporting, purchasing, and establishing record keeping systems; provides high level of direct and indirect support direct.
  • Works with PI to design, perform and evaluate research procedures; confers with PI to assist in developing plans for research projects and discuss the interpretation of results; collaborates in the preparation of manuscripts for publications and preparation of grant proposals to sponsoring agencies; assists in the preparation of amendments to protocols and/or modifications to study design as appropriate.
  • Serves as a resource to the Clinical Research staff, ensuring appropriate procedures and explains policies and procedures; ensures that research projects are completed according to IRB and federal guidelines.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures; provides comprehensive direction to Clinical Research personnel; may participate in the hiring, training, and evaluation of Clinical Research staff.
  • Provides Study Coordinator functions and performs all duties associated with the coordination and implementation of Clinical Research study/projects, data collection and the management of data generated by study protocols.
  • Researches and recommends new methods and procedures to maintain standards and improve quality.
  • Serves as point of contact between the PI and all internal and external collaborations and external funding source leadership.
  • Provides excellent communication between internal and external entities utilizing resources for in-person, conference calls or virtual meetings via Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.
  • Develops procedure manuals and operational/technical guidelines for lab studies.
  • Participates in lab study processes, maintaining records and preparing reports as required.
  • Regularly liaising with study sites and other members of the core team and other entities involved to ensure data management is secure and intact.
  • Researches and recommends new methods and procedures to maintain current capabilities, quality, and standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Specialist knowledge of applicable regulations regarding federal and private funding sources and be able to provide regulatory and/or governance advice where required.
  • Able to demonstrate strategic, tactical, and operational management skills in the planning and execution of the research studies being performed.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, together with the ability to organize and motivate others.
  • Experience in the management and co-ordination of clinical studies is desirable.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate in oral and written form with all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a diverse environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree plus 4 years of clinical or research experience with at least 1 year of lead or supervisory experience included; 8 years of relevant education and work experience may substitute for this requirement.
  • Basic Life Support Certification. Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements.

Salary Range
$66,700.00 - $103,400.00 / Annually
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
