Infusion Smart Pumps Participates in the development, monitoring, and optimization of the Alaris infusion pump guardrail library with the goal of improving medication safety. Leads efforts to improve the use of infusion pump safety software. Provides clinical support for other institutional infusion pumps if needed.
Clinical Content Management Supports the build and maintenance of medication-related content in the electronic health record to assure safe and appropriate use of medications. Assists in coordinating the Medication Management Committee. Serves as a liason between the EHR team and Division of Pharmacy and/or other healthcare professionals.
Process Improvement and Training Oversees, conducts, and/or supports process improvement changes to the organization's medication-use system through optimization of technology and automation and use of effective project management skills. Provides effective training related to technology and automation to students, residents, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
Medication-Related Charging and Team Support Performs medication-related charging tasks and pharmacy revenue integrity activities within the electronic health record as needed to provide coverage for teammates. Provides support and cross-coverage for other informatics team members based on the present needs and priorities.
Clinical Decision Support Participates in development, monitoring, evaluation, and optimization of medication-related decision support in the EHR and other ancillary systems.
REQUIREMENTS
Education: Pharm.D degree.
Preferred Education: Doctorate (Professional)
Certification: All of the following:
Texas State Board of Pharmacy Pharmacist license within 90 days of job entry.
Preferred Certification: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS), EPIC Certification, and Board of Pharmaceutical Specialty Certification (BCPS)
Experience: Pharmacy Practice Residency (PGY 1) and Residency in the area of specialization (PGY 2). Experience as a clinical pharmacist in the area of specialization may substitute for the required residency on a one to one basis.
Preferred Experience: Pharmacy Informatics, Drug Information, and/or Medication Safety experience
Three years hospital pharmacy experience
Proficiency with Epic Willow and/or Beacon applications
