- UT Health Tyler, the flagship hospital of the system, has 502 licensed beds specializing in advanced acute care medicine. Our hospital includes a 24-hour ER with Level 1 trauma center, a comprehensive stroke center, more than 500 physicians and a full complement of subspecialty groups.

- Responsible for the provision of comprehensive clinical pharmacy services and all associated areas (eg. Pediatrics, Trauma, Urgent Care) including pharmacokinetic and therapeutic consultation.
- Provide Pharmacy review of medication orders prior to administration.
- Collaborate with other clinicians and health-care providers to implement and maintain innovative disease management programs and clinical pharmacy services.
- Participate in the development of medication use management programs within the UT Health East Texas Tyler including clinical guidelines, critical pathways, disease management, and drug use programs.
- Participates in providing didactic and experiential training in Clinical Pharmacy for doctoral (PharmD) students and clinical pharmacy residents.
- Participates in clinical research projects resulting in presentations and/or publications.
- Participates as adjunct faculty in accredited schools of pharmacy in the clinical and didactic training of doctoral (PharmD) students.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of residency programs in the areas of Pharmaceutical Care and Clinical Pharmacology.
- Keeps informed of all local, state and federal laws covering the storage, handling and dispensing of drugs and for interpreting each prescription order to determine that it meets all legal requirements.
- Keeps informed of the action, side effects and proper usage of all new drugs as they are made commercially available as well as of all investigational drugs being studied at this institution.
- Maintains awareness of contemporary trends in the profession through the professional literature and regular attendance at professional organization meetings, institutes and seminars.
Job Requirements
- Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in Texas and meet the following criteria
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Minimum of one year experience in Emergency Medicine or Critical Care
Preferred Job Requirements
- Doctorate of Science in Pharmacy (PharmD)
- Aseptic Technique – Must complete an ACPE approved 20 hour sterile products course within 90 days of hire
- PGY-2 ASHP accredited residency with emphasis in Emergency Medicine or Critical Care
