Clinical Pharmacist needed for long term partially remote/onsite temp position with large well known insurance company
The Clinical Pharmacist will report to the Clinical Pharmacy Manager and is primarily responsible for performing prior authorization review for Health Plan of Nevada/Sierra Health and Life Commercial and Health Plan of Nevada Medicaid members. Broad-based and comprehensive knowledge in addition to strong clinical decision making are both critical to success in the role.
This is a work for home and every other week in the office position in Las Vegas, NV.
Candidates must be willing to work Monday – Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
You'll enjoy the flexibility of 1 Tuesday every other week in the office and the remainder telecommute as you take on some tough challenges.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Work is computer based and includes receiving phone calls from prior authorization pharmacy technicians and/or providers for clinical information
• Consult physicians/providers with questions, interpret clinical guideline criteria, and render/review coverage determination for prior authorization cases
• Consult with pharmacy technicians and/or physicians regarding use of medications and advise of appropriate formulary alternatives when requested
• Gather complex clinical information, coverage policy and criteria information and work within regulatory guidelines to make coverage determinations
• Organize workload, sets priorities, completes assignments in a timely manner and utilizes resources appropriately while complying with department program standards
• Perform all duties and functions in compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations
• Conform with and supports department quality assurance and improvement guidelines
• Dedication to build rapport with coworkers, internal customers, and other departments by demonstrating a strong customer service orientation and a continuous positive image of Health Plan of Nevada
• Demonstrate ability to maintain productive working relationships with team members, other internal and external customers, and management team
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science Pharmacy or Doctorate of Pharmacy from an accredited college or university
• Current and unrestricted Pharmacist license in the state of Nevada
• 2+ years of experience working as a licensed pharmacist
• Excellent drug product and clinical pharmacy knowledge
• Clinical decision making; the ability to make an informed decision based on evidence, awareness of the current situation and knowledge of the patient
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications:
• PharmD
• Clinical Pharmacist experience
The position would require an active pharmacist license issued by the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy. We prefer a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, but a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree is acceptable.
Dress code would only be on the Tuesdays that the candidate is in the office. The dress is business casual, but jeans are allowed
