Job Description
Qualifications for the Nursing Supervisor are:
- Must be a licensed registered nurse in the state of Tennessee, in good standing with the State Board of Nursing.
- Has a minimum of 2 years of experience as a registered nurse working in home care/community health as a field nurse and/or in administration.
- Has at least one year of medical-surgical nursing experience
- Knowledge of State and Federal rules and regulations for home care
- Intimate knowledge of medical procedures and terminology
- Excellent communication skills, detail oriented and good organizational skills
- Self starter with the ability to problem solve
Duties for the Clinical Visit Nurse Supervisor:
- Supervises and directs professional and paraprofessional service
- Provides on-call supervision in absence of Director of Nurses
- Participates in assigning field staff to patients based on patient needs
- Develop and maintains patient care record
- Consults with physicians, nurse practitioners and other members of the patients medical team in order to provide and maintain safe and effective patient care and to review patient progress
- Interviews potential nurses for hire and performs skills checks and training per agency policy
- Will do 30 and 60 day supervisory visits and case conferences
- Interviews for potential new cases with state agencies and hospital as referred in the absence of the Director of Nursing
- Opens new cases per agency protocol
- Case manages each case they are assigned
- Complies with regulations mandated by the TENNESSEE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION/Bureau of TennCare, HCBS, Area Agencies on Aging and Disability pertaining to case management and supervisory duties in licensed home care agency
- Cooperates with Director of Nursing
- Follows instructions, is punctual and attendance is acceptable
- Is self-reliant and plans appropriately
- Performs other duties to assist as needed and assigned by Director of Nursing
Essential Functions needed for the Clinical Visit Nurse Supervisor are:
- Must be able to communicate one on one and with groups, both verbally and in writing
- Must be able to hear and speak in manner understood by most people
- Must be able to lift and stoop effectively so as to perform the above listed job responsibilities
- Able to operate all standard equipment used in office and have good computer skills
